The staff at Thula Thula are amazing and respond to your every need. the food is amazing. We stayed in the main camp as my friend wanted "real walls" not the canvas walls of the tented camp. The main lodge was beautiful and peaceful with a small dunk pool and indoor and outdoor seating areas. We had our meals on... more

My wife and I spent three days at Thula Thula, for two of them we were the only guests. We found it a little quiet to begin with, and found it disconcerting to sit in the boma eating dinner, with more staff than guests! The lodges(only six of them) were well furnished and comfortable, but a bit dark, so much... more

The service was perfect, professional and friendly. The food, a SouthAfrican/SouthernFrench fusion, was great (and really TOO MUCH). The location is nice and the bungalows very comfortable and well apart, with a view on the bush (and the occasional antelopes and vervet monkeys). The game drives and walks were great too: you don't go to Thula thula for the Big... more

An excellent few days. Too short! Didn't mind the animal poo in the "yard". Some people! The wildlife is not as diverse or plentiful as some of the bigger reserves, but you will not do better for elephants. The staff were friendly and efficient with excellent service at the lodge, and couldn't have been more helpful. The food was superb... more

We had intended to stay 2 nights but left after one. As we checked in we were told that there was no electricity due to storms...fair enough...but we were provided no candles and the one battery opperated light arrived at the room 2 hours after dark. The food was awful...we woke up to ants all over the bathroom including the... more

Thula Thula is a gem! Lawrence Anthony, a world-renowned conservationist and celebrated author, and his effervescent and cosmopolitan Parisian wife Francoise offer a splendid retreat about 2 hours north of Durban, where guests can enjoy seemingly guaranteed game sightings during the drives only to luxuriate in the game lodges or laze at the swimming pool, before enjoying surprisingly sophisticated cordon... more

Thula Thula was a wonderful place, with a real relaxed feel to it. The staff are very hospitable and friendly. They are always willing to go out of their way to help. We stayed in the Lodge, which is located in a different area to the Tented camp. The food at the lodge is absolutely stunning and the owners take... more

We travel to the bush quite alot - especially to Sabi Sands Reserve - we really were looking forward to Thula Thula after reading all the reviews and what a disappointment! Firstly, we stayed in the tented camp - the tents are stunning - that really was the only thing we liked - but it seems as though the management... more

My husband surprised me with a spontaneous long weekend away at Thula Thula recently, where we stayed in the luxury tented camp. Although I wasn't particularly excited about this "surprise" initially, Thula Thula soon changed my mind about that ! On arrival we were greeted warmly by Bridgette & Tim. Bridgette's culinary skills, conversation and overall hospitality was superb and... more

My wife and I stayed on a 3 night special package at the lodges, as opposed to the luxury tents. The main reasons for visiting this place are this: 1. The amazing story that comes with the place of how Lawrence Anthony, the reserve owner, is responsible for setting in motion the dramatic rescue of the animals of the Baghdad... more
