Our hosts Phil and Sue provided us with fantastic, hearty breakfasts and freshly baked muffins. What made our breakfast experience on the verandah so unique was that we were able to enjoy seeing wonderful birds only a few feet away. Sue has invested patience and dedication into feeding birds which have confided trust in her over the years. Knysna Loeries... more

Phil and Sue Millard who run the Kingfisher Country House are a smashing couple that treated us as family. The guest house is located within the Wilderness National Park. Sue is an excellent cook and provides delicious varied buffet breakfasts which can be enjoyed on their terrace overlooking the garden. Many bird species such as the Knysna Louries are attracted... more

Kingfisher Country House is a birdwatchers paradise. Sue regularly feeds the birds and you can get up close and personal with many species including quite a few which are difficult to see or shy (like the Knysna Lourie). Sue servers a great breakfast (late - so you need to go birding before breakfast). She also makes a pass available to... more

We spent 3 days at Kingfisher & could have spent many more. Sue was fantastic in planning our days & sharing lots of her knowledge of the area - and the birds. The accomodation is superb, really comfortable & elegantly furnished. The real plus from Kingfisher was the way that we were treated - as though we were long lost... more

Sue and Phil are full of great ideas for things to do in this part of the Garden Route. Their hospitality is second to none being very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast on the veranda, watching the birdlife attracted to the birdfeeders is a particular treat as the food is so good, both ours and the birds'! The rooms are large... more

This was my second visit, and just as wonderful as the first. If you want to get away from the bussle and be treated: delicious home cooked breakfasts, coffee on the patio overlooking a stunning garden, be joined by a stunning variety of SA birds, some of which you can even feed by hand - this is definitely the holiday... more

Whenever I need to get away to recharge my batteries, I go back to the Kingfisher Country House. The owners, Phil and Sue, are 2 of the most special people you could meet. Their knowledge of the area is amazing. That's apart from the fact that they welcome guests like members of their family. One doesn't have to move further... more

I recently spent a week at the Kingfisher Country House with my parents and girlfriend. The weather was excellent for autumn and the house and hosts (Sue & Phil) were absolutely fantastic. They were always ready with advice and never once did they give bad or incorrect information, from where to go for dinner or what to look at or... more
