We spent 2 nights at Oliphants in a Rondavel with one of the best view of the River below, which we'd booked about 7 months before. Having visited another of Sanparks rest camps (Addo Elephant Park) the previous year, we had a fairly good idea of what to expect, though I would say that the Addo accommodation is more modern... more

Nice place. But do make sure that you are in one of the bungalows on the perimeter. It's almost the same price and definately worth it. more

You cannot get a better place in the world to eat your breakfast - on a balcony, high above the Olifants River, with Hippo, Impala, Elephant way down below you as the sun comes up! Go for this view alone. The room was a small rondavel - thatched hut, with 2 beds, air con, shower (a bit musty, concrete floors)... more

Yes, it was a disappointment to find the restaurant was being refurbished, but the view from our hut, overlooking the Olifants River certainly made up for it. The hut was equipped with kitchen utensils, and if there was any shortfall in equipment, you only had to ask one of the staff. You could always buy some food from the shop... more

This camp is beautiful! It is clean, picturesque and friendly. We stayed in a hut for 3 with a kitchen which was newly refurbished and had a stupendous view surrounded by exotic plants and trees. Ok so the restaurant is being renovated, but it was easy ro make a meal from the food available at the shop ( which also... more

Don't expect the check-in staff to tell you that cutlery, plates and glasses are extra in the cheaper lodges; and rent them before the reception closes, then wait for and hour for delivery. Don't expect powerpoints in any convenient position. Don't expect good food in the cafe. Don't expect service with a smile. more

The rooms at Olifants are very functional; ours was not very clean unfortunately - sheets had been changed (I hope) but that was about it. Restaurant was closed for refurbishment at time of writing (I think due to soon reopen) but this had not been communicated at time of booking so caused a bit of a problem for an evening... more

We stayed at Satara, Orpen and Olifants- Olifants was definitely the best. We had a bungalow/boma facing the Olifants river. The roaring river a few hundren feet below was spectacular. Our room was equipped with an outdoor kitchennete and a fridge. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a problem with the shower door-water would leak onto the floor.... more

Ok. So the food was pretty awful at times and our three bed bungalow was tired (but very adequate). But let's face it, you don't come here for luxury accommodation and gourmet food. The camp itself is very pleasant, the situation and views are stunning, most of the staff we found to be extremely helpful, and just about everything you... more
