After reading all the good reviews I had no hesitation in booking our 3 night stay here. Communication was good and I was really looking forward to my stay. We arrived a little later due to our flight to Joburgh being delayed and I had phoned to advise Marlea of this. We arrived around 8pm and she meet us and... more

We feel the need to write a response to this review mainly because we feel that it is unfair to compare a family owned 4 star guest house with a huge hotel chain. Guest houses cannot offer the same facilities and services as a major hotel. We take great pride in the fact that we have 6 different breakfast specials...

Arriving just before 8, Rob was very friendly and showed us our marvelous room, with an even larger bathroom and an amazing bath. He gave us a fine adress to find something to eat and we had a very good sleep in the large, large, large bed. In the morning, the pregnant Marlea (classy South African woman) served us a very nice... more

Fantastic stay - well looked after by Marlea, with a wonderful contemporary style room. Four poster bed with flat screen TV, big bathroom and wonderful grounds to stroll around and absorb the sunshine it was a great welcome to South Africa after the long flight from London. Definitely a welcoming, stylish place to stay! more

I simply love staying in the cottage, the smell of the thatch, the views over the nature reserve and... more

Pros: The view Cons: The cottage room smelled musty and was dank. It clearly hadn't been used in months, maybe years. The bath towels were old and ratty and coming apart at the ends. There were HUGE cobwebs in the room. There were many bugs, including large spiders on the walls and on the bed. The sheets had random hairs... more

Comparing this review with all our other reviews on this site and others where we average 90 – 100%, clearly this review is not based on reality. It is completely unfair and all of the contents, apart from the parking, totally untrue. These guests stayed with us for 4 nights and never mentioned anything to us. We therefore feel it...

We stopped for two nights in Nelspruit on our way to Kruger from Johannesburg and found this town a useful base for exploring the area of the Blyde River Canyon. It is only a short drive to Sabie, Hazyiew and the southern entrances of the Kruger National Park. The guesthouse itself was great for relaxation. It was very quiet and... more

My husband and I stayed at La Roca as the second part of a 2 centre holiday for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Ritz in Cape Town and it was very disappointing, so we really had our fingers crossed that La Roca would live up to our expectations....but it actually exceeded them tenfold! The hosts Rob and Marlea are... more

If you are visiting Nelspruit or just passing through, I would highly recommend the La Roca guesthouse. Situated up in the residential part of town, the terrace and pool offers stunning views and all rooms are of a luxuriously high quality finish. A warm and friendly welcome awaits you, and the mood is relaxed and homely. Breakfast is served on... more
