Our tour group stopped at this hotel for one night. From the outside, the Victorian style of the hotel is impressive. The rooms, though, are in dire need of renovation. The rooms are large, and could be very nice if they were renovated. The furnishings were antiques and very nice. But holes in the wall around electrical outlets and doors... more

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Had I not arrived in the evening and had it not been the only place to stay in Matjiesfontein (itself in the middle of no-where) I would have turnedt tail and left. This was recommended as worth a visit on the way north from Cape Town to Pretoria .Its almost a folly but worth every bit of time to visit .Its Victorian with a lovely little museum by a railway Station the Blue Train stops by every week .The staff are dressed in old style clothing and are very friendly .The food... more
