I stayed at this hotel whilst on business, so I didn't have to pay for it out from my own pocket. None the less, I recommend this hotel for a number of reasons: The decor is old fashioned, but charming. Very English. The beds are incredibly comfy. There's a great attention to detail. After a long day, I would come... more

We are checking out today; we've been here 4 nights. From the very first minute we arrived we actually felt the hotel was built specifically for us! I've never stayed in a hotel where we were treated so well. Our concierge, Byron, was first class. We celebrated our honeymoon here obviously, but also my birthday. He found out both of... more

Spent three days here with a tour in March. It is a classic. Beautiful grounds, within walking distance of "downtown", and highly attentative staff. We were without luggage (lost by airline) for two days and the staff could not offer enough assistance with personal items to get us through this time. Breakfast buffet is outstanding, the restaurants and bars offer... more

I recently returned from a visit to the Cape, including a 4-night stay at the Mt Nelson. The hotel itself, including common areas, grounds and rooms, is beautiful and in a good location. You can walk from the hotel to the centrally-located sights, shops, restaurants and the hotel has a convenient complementary shuttle service that takes guests to the waterfront.... more

We stayed here in 2007 and it was by far the best place we have stayed in South Africa. This hotel is impecable, the staff are friendly and you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this hotel. As always, the only bad experience was our car hire which you need to be careful about. Go to the trusted... more

For our second stay in Cape Town in 2 years, we had only one condition for Trailfinders to fulfil - our holiday was on the condition that we stayed at the Mount Nelson. We have previously stayed there, as well as another waterfront hotel, but the "Nellie" as it is known locally, is truly memorable. I would recommend the Planet... more

If you're going to stay in the most beautiful city in South Africa which is Cape Town, it makes sense to stay in the most beautiful hotel in the city. To my mind only one hotel could hold the title, The Mount Nelson. Think l realised this the minute l drove under its imposing gateway and first saw the hotel... more

We were fortunate to stay at this beautiful hotel recently as we were in Cape Town for a wedding. The wedding took place at the Mount Nelson - what a perfect venue! Our room was beautiful, looking out at Table Mountain. The service at this hotel is excellent. The Spa had just opened - had an outstanding massage there. Tea... more

If you run a five star property the following story is a great example of how NOT to treat you customers. My wife and I were supposed to spend a week in Cape Town at a friend’s house but I got sick on our way from Franschhoek and we decided to find a hotel instead. I checked the Mount Nelson... more

Thank you for your feedback. As a hotel that prides itself on the quality of our staffs’ service and hotel product I am tremendously disappointed to have read about your recent experience at the Mount Nelson whilst visiting our beautiful city. As the General Manager I am personally responsible for my guests and staffs and I apologise for the totally...

What a hotel. What a holiday. We took our 5 month old baby daughter, and had a fantastic time. They provided a cot, steriliser, complimentary baby toiletries, and generally did everything to make our stay superb, including sorting a baby sitter for each of the 8 nights. It was our third visit to Cape Town and our first visit to... more

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your very kind words on your recent experiences at the Mount Nelson Hotel. I am most pleased that you all enjoyed yourselves and that our baby facilities and services were also enjoyed by your 5 month old baby! Joey has been a great asset and ambassador of the Mount Nelson...
