This hotel does everything so easily. The service, the food, the staff, the rooms are all effortlessly first class. We stayed for 5 nights in February 2010 and the hotel oozes character. Yes, the odd fixture and fitting looks a bit tired (Cape Colony restaurant for example), but the overwhelming feeling is one of five star quality, atmosphere, and great... more

We stayed in the Mount Nelson for four nights in August 2008. We both travel much globally, both for work and for pleasure. This hotel stands out as one of the very best experiences we have ever had. Let me summarize: * Staff: warm and friendly, bending over backwards for you. Concierge services non-plus ultra. When we wanted to dine... more

We went there for their 'famous' high tea. It was awful, the sandwiches and cakes tasted like they had been mass produced, it was overcrowded and very expensive. If you want a great high tea with delicious home made cakes and sandwiches, go to the Twelve Apostles.. more

Excellent hotel, comfy beds and rooms, excellent service and staff. Great food, no complaints and if I could be on a plane for that long again I would Definitely cough up a lung to stay there again. more

I have stayed at the Mount Nelson quite a few times and I swear by it. The hotel is charming and the staff is amazing. The rooms might not be as modern as the One&Only but the beds are comfortable and the the linen superb. But what makes this place special is the personal service and attention to detail. One... more

When trying to describe this hotel-it is so easy to be gushing with praise. There are few hotels that match the sheer professionalism and understanding of their guests wishes. It is a very simple philososphy but it really works. Being a regular they have my profile carefully stored.I would love one day to read their side notes!!An example of this I... more

Lying at the foot of Table Mountain the Mount Nelson stands as a monument to everything that a 5 star hotel should be. We have just returned from a 10 night stay and now savour the memories of our time there. The hotel's spacious sitting areas, lush gardens, swimming pools and discreet but ever present charms reminded us of a... more

This continues to be the best in Cape Town. This time we only ate there - lunch (twice) at the Oasis restaurant. Huge excellent buffet; excellent service; very reasonably priced. more

We stayed at the Mount Nelson after our long trip from Los Angeles and could not think of a more peaceful oasis with perfect service to rest up and prepare for our vacation in Africa. We walked to several of the closeby museums and the eclectic scene on Long Street with its funky stores and eating establishments. Loved the pool... more

I just stayed 12 nights at the Mount Nelson with my wife and a few of my family and friends. The Mount Nelson is a very well run hotel and we really enjoyed ourselves. It's a lovely place to relax. The staff are friendly and efficient, they somehow manage to remember the name of every guest. Don't expect the "wow"... more
