My boyfriend and I stayed at Ashanti Lodge for two nights in November 2009. The property is in a nice part of the city (Gardens) and easy walking distance to Long Street/Shopping/Restaurants, etc. The main building is a very pretty restored Victorian and the lodge also includes two separate detached guest houses that accommodate the various double and single en-suite... more

We stayed at the Ashanti Lodge in Green Point and found it to be excellent for a hostel. This place has apparently been newly renovated quite recently and this shows as the rooms and building look new and modern. The hostel also has a small pool in the back which although we didn't use, did look nice and clean. The... more

This is a rather nice place. Swimming pool, good bar, nice but small rooms (the double beds are uncomfortable though), good clean toilets and showers. It is however a bit of a party place so if this is not what you are up for (or you are 30+) maybe you should think about staying at another place. And be prepared... more

Ashanti Lodge is a great place to stay in Capetown. Located beneath table mountain it's a 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Long St and twenty minute walk from V&A waterfront. We were located in one of the houses - seperate from the main hostel, just round the corner, in a double ensuite with shared kitchen facilities.... more

Ashanti Lodge in cape town is a place that has it all. From a noisy boisterous hostel which has raucous parties and 'we;re all family' kind of rooms to the more private guesthouse around the corner (where we stayed) which is a lovely quaint Anglo Dutch house modelled into many rooms for guests The location felt like amongst the safest... more

Cape Town offers no shortage of busy backpacker lodges to single travellers in their 20's so finding something that suits what you're looking for can be a bit of a lucky dip. But I definitely picked a trump card out of the pack when I stayed for a week at this yellow house of sunshine! Its central location in the... more

Stayed there for one night at the end of an overland trip. Dorm rooms were quite small but ok. Bathrooms were spotless and showers were amzing - all communal though. Kitchen area quite small for the size of the place. Also our dorm room being at a central courtyard at the pool, meant trips to the bathroom involved getting soaked... more

I was booked in here for 5 days at the end of my 56 day safari from Nairobi. I took a single room which was up the road away from the main block in a small house. The room was fine but the safe was locked. I went back to reception and reported this. The manageress went off to sort... more

Our first nights in Cape Town were here, it was great to be met at the airport by the hostel staff! Made figuring out how to get started much easier. The view of Table Mountain from the plane on the way in meant that we wanted to check-in, dump our bags and head up to the mountain! Luckily the lodge... more
