We spent weeks staying at this hostel, at the end of an epic trip from London to Cape Town.
The welcome was friendly, the rooms were clean, tidy and warm. The pools looked nice (but as we were there in winter it was a bit chilly for swimming), there is a barbeque area, and the deck is lovely when it is sunny.
It is only a 10-15 minute walk from the V&A Waterfront and the ferry to Robben Island, and about a 30 minute walk to Long Street. It is in a safe area. There is offroad parking outside if you are travelling with a car.
The hostel seems to attract an older and more mature clientele than some of the hostels on Long Street. As a result it is quieter and more chilled than some of those places.
On the negative side... the kitchens are a bit short of implements, a few parts of the hostel could do with a paint (this was in progress when we were there), there's only one slow internet terminal (chargeable, but there are cheap internet cafes nearby...
