This reasonably priced hotel was perfect for a 3-night visit to Cape Town. The rooms were nice, though nothing fancy. That suited me fine, since I was out of the room for most of the day. I was fortunate to have a view of Table Mountain (though slightly obstructed by a construction crane from another property). Bed linens were nice.... more

We were very disappointed by the staff. They didn't greet us when we came and we had a dead fly on the wall of our sleeping room from day one until check-out. They did not feel they should take care of the room, instead, they were out in the garden smoking all day. Their kitchen did not meet basic standard... more

I booked this hotel because of excellent ratings I found on the internet and I liked the hotel website a lot. Some days after booking - 14 days before our stay - I came across the tripadvisor site. I disliked the bathroom photos so much that I wanted to cancel our stay. I wrote a mail to the FRITZ, but... more

I arrived at 5 am after traveling from San Francisco via Europe. Exhausted expecting the usual hotel spiel of no room available till noon. Instead was greeted by the kind night watchman, shown into scrupulously clean room ,invited to shower, sleep and come to breakfast at 7 30 before my room was ready at 9. Unbelievable hospitality! This lasted throughout... more

We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel itself is a little rundown (in particular, the furniture), but comfortable. We stayed in a room on the second floor with a balcony view of Table Mountain. We appreciated the breakfasts (no cooked food but delicious bread, fruit, cheese, croissants), laundry service (very reasonable at 25R a load), computer access in foyer, and... more

Just a brief review. :) - Lovely location -> It was within walking distance to Kloof Street and Long Street where all the bars and restaurants were. Green Market Square is also about a 15-20 minute walk away. Woolsworth is a stone's throw away so you can just pop out and buy some food easily. Nando's and many other internet... more

Positive: The hotel is located in a residential area, at the rim of the city center. It's just behind (parallel to) Kloof Street, one of the main streets, the other beeing Long Street. On both streets you find plenty of shops and several restaurants. The noise of the traffic fortunately does not get to the hotel. Arthur, the swiss owner... more

Stayed here for three nights in September 2006. As mentioned in some reviews this is a small hotel (14 rooms) that is a cross between B&B and backpackers hotel. Quite affordable, clean and perfect location with regard to proximity to the many shops, restaurants and bars on Kloof and Long Street. Also safe to walk at night as long as... more

A very pleasant and economical place to stay. The Fritz is essentially a B&B in an old house just off Kloof Street and its wonderful restaurants, around the corner from the South African Museum and an easy walk to the Company Gardens and downtown Cape Town. The 13 rooms are all unique and unusual. Bathing facilities vary considerably; one room... more
