From the moment we arrived until, the sad time we, had to leave we, could not have been made more welcome. Our room was large and very thoughtfully furnished; the en-suite bathroom was to luxury standard with a wonderful walk-in shower. The equipment, towels,tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer were all top quality as was the room servicing, which took place... more

I would say pretty much everything about this hotel was resolutely average. Our room was pretty quiet, pretty large and pretty comfortable. It was a lot like an ordinary US motel, with its bland, clean and simple decor and small kitchenette - not at all like the Grand Country House it looks like in the pictures (which are of the... more

We stayed at the lodge for a couple of days to see the surrounding area. Unfortunately we had a bit of cold and cloudy weather, which seems to be not uncommon for the wintertime in cape town. The rooms were however not equiped with a heating system ( many of the other places we stayed did, using the more expensive... more

Thank you for kindly writing on Trip Advisor. However we feel some of your comment is unfair. Our rooms are all fitted with state of the art air conditioners which heat the rooms to 30 degrees C when the heat function on the controller is selected. The air conditioners all have elements that take time to heat up. We would...

On a trip to Cape town we stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful guest house. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful and the food and wine was great. Our rooms and the bath in particular are worth a trip to Glen Avon on their own. It is a wonderful base for Cape Town and for the Cape peninsular,... more

This was our third trip to the CT area in three years and previously we have stayed inthe Waterfront. This time we decided to stay in Constantia and it proved to be an excellent decision. The Glen Avon is a top spot. By far the best accomodation we stayed at during our holiday. Despite not encouraging children we were one... more

We stayed here recently following a safari in the Kruger and a wine-tour in Stellenbosch. Glan Avon Lodge was ideally situated for the places we wished to visit during the final days of our trip to South Africa. We were very close to the gardens of Kirstenbosch, Cape Point and a 25-minute drive to Capetown and Table Mountain. We would... more

We have stayed at this luxury guest house on several occasions since 2001 the latest in March 2008 and have always enjoyed our stay. The Stringer family who operate and own this guesthouse go out of their way to be helpful giving advice on what to do and not do for the uninitiated without intruding and we have always valued... more
