I stayed there for 3 nights in December. The rooms are clean the location is nice and the staff is awesome! thanks! I really liked the "laid back vibe" in Stellenbosch! It is not so hectic than ct! My favorite in South Africa!

This hostel is just bad. The service was not existent and the dorm was old and dirty. The kitchen is in the dorm (!) so you sleep in the middle of a constant food smell. The bathroom was dirty and mould-infested. We also couldn't close the window properly. Worst hostel I've been.

So far the friendliest staff I have encountered in a Backpackers! They took the time to plan my further travels with me. In general very helpful. I recently stayed at Ikhaya for five nights. The reception area of the hostel is located on the street level, while the rooms are two floors up. With two iron gates to go through before reaching your door, I never felt security was an issue.
