The Lodge, with its stylishly decorated rooms and suites, is set alongside the first fairway of the championship De Zalze Golf Course. The clubhouse is just on the other side of the Blaauwklippen river and within walking distance. The rooms enjoy breath-taking views of the Stellenbosch Mountains and are surrounded by 120 hectares of vineyards. Accommodation is available in a variety of units: 3 x Two Bedroom Family Suites, 4 x Luxury One Bedroom Suites, 15 x Superior Rooms and 9 x Standard Rooms. Although the lodge offers all the comforts associated with a four star facility, our Two Bedroom Family Suites and Luxury One Bedroom Suites are available with kitchens or kitchenettes, complete with microwave, cutlery and crockery for those who prefer to self-cater. There’s a rim-flow swimming pool, a range of vineyard trails for hiking or running, mountain bike trails, as well as wine tastings on the estate. South Africa is experiencing various stages of loadshedding (electricity outages); however, the Lodge is equipped with inverters supporting USB plugs, lights, TV and WIFI. Feel free to speak to one of our receptionists for more information.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful surroundings. Infinity pool with nice view over the golfcourse and the mountains. Rooms looked okay, bathroom needs to get upgraded. Shower head could hardly get water trough and it took a long time before the water was hot. Biggest problem with the rooms is the sound proofing, which is non existent. You could hear everything form the other rooms. Crying children kept us from our sleep multiple times, eventhough they were in a room further away. Breakfast is a short walk but in a nice setting. There is no lobby or something to eat at night so you need to have a car to go out for dinner. Reception also needs upgrade as it looks like a motorway motel, staff could also be more welcoming. The potential is really there given the location, but it needs work!

The rooms must have just recently been finished, as some landscaping was still taking place just outside our room...fortunately, the digger started up after we had already left for the day and stopped before we returned at the end of the day. The development is beautiful, right by a golf course. A small pool was one minute walk away and breakfast & lunch are five minutes walk away. Upon check-in we were provided with a ticket for a complimentary wine-tasting session, which was a very nice touch. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and had all necessary amenities. It is also possible to borrow some good-quality mountain bikes from the Reception to go for a cycle ride around the estate.

This 4* property on a wine and golf estate is exposed to the most picturesque views - unfortunately the design compromises the surroundings - had the architect's design allowed for far bigger windows it would have resulted in a better appreciation for the beautiful landscape - the staff is extremely accommodating - Alex at reception has a thorough knowledge of his product and well abled to guide guest to make the best choice with regards to room choice - Francesca at housekeeping is a star - I recommend the Standard Mountain Facing Rooms as opposed to the superior room that should actually have been defined as family rooms, because it is slightly bigger and comes with a sleeper couch - note that the superior rooms DO NOT enjoy as GREAT a mountain view - while the hotel information advises that the restaurant is a mere 100 meters from the rooms, it is ACTUALLY ATLEAST about 400 meters and NOT IDEAL for elderly people to take a walk to the restaurant, because of the up and down walk to the restaurant - it is better to drive down to the restaurant - the breakfast offering is more in line with a 3* hotel rating - guests should look at the dates on the packaging of the muffins to ensure they do get a fresh muffin - the croissants tasted stale on both mornings and likely only re-heated when we pointed this out - the service from the waiters were excellent.

Lovely room, clean, comfortable, spacious, good storage, good bathroom, big shower. Warm welcome on arrival. Excellent breakfast in the winery. On-site golf course is simply outstanding - challenging, well-maintained, great views. Golf clubhouse is superb, excellent terrace with views, great pizzas and friendly service. Pro shop staff are just great. Will return.

I’m staying here as part of a tour of South Africa. The setting of the property is lovely. The restaurant service and food were excellent. The wine is very good. The rooms, however, were a concern. In our group, at least three had no hot water , thus no bath or shower. One had an air conditioning unit above the bed and it leaked water onto them during the night. At least three of us had faulty safes and we had to wait for the help to come fix them. This reporting and waiting was a waste of time for us while on a holiday. There was no phone in the room to contact the service desk. Should everyone have to walk to the desk to be served? The shower door in our bathroom was so poorly installed that it didn’t even close. The patchwork on the walls was atrocious. So poorly remodeled. The tv did not register any channel. Taken together, it appeared to us that the recent work done leaves much to be desired. We urged our tour provider, Collette, not to book here again.

This is the lodge competing to see how little they can give for the most possible money. You get a kiddies lunch pack for breakfast. There is no extra blankets or pillows or bottled water to drink. This is a terrible place to stay at!! We will definitely not return and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I had a good visit at this hotel, the pool is wonderful with lovely views of the vineyard. There are plenty of sun loungers. Breakfast was pleasant and being able to eat on the terrace. The rooms were spacious but a bit dark. The level of security getting in and out was a bit of a pain.

My wife and I are in our late seventies .WE WERE ON THE LAST FLIGHT OUT OF THE USA TO SA. WE HAD A PAID BOOKING.WE WERE TOTALLY STRESSED OUT , NO SLEEP FOR 48 HRS ,HAVING SURVIVED INTER ALIA SNOWSTORM DRIVING IN COLORADO. The receptionist ,presumably, instructed by management refused to have us.I made a big scene. Eventually, a delightful lady, I believe to have been the catering manager sorted us out . Thank you madam for your kindness. The hotel and junior staff are excellent let down ,by arrogant and uncaring management
