My partner and I enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the Batavia. The level of service was top notch and the room had everything we could have hoped for. The hotel is very close to the centre of town and within easy walking distance of cafes, restaurants and shops. We hope to stay again in the future. more

After weeks of searching for suitable accommodation for myself and my husbands trip to SA, I stumbled upon Batavia. It appeared 'promising' so we decided to take a chance on it. After 3 nights stay in the hotel i can't explain how under rated this place is. From the moment we arrived (11pm!) we were greeted by the most pleasant... more

We stayed here as a preferred option from our travel agent and we were not disappointed. We new at the time of the booking that building work was being carried out adjacent to the hotel but the description of the hotel on the Web site decided this for us. We followed the directions from Capetown Airport (spot on) and arrived... more

Only stay here for the next year or so if you are going to check in after 7pm and check out before 8am (or unless you don't mind incredibly loud construction noise). The hotel is literally right on top of an enormous building site which is currently at huge hole in ground stage, so is bound to be a problem... more

I would like to inform all our potential guests that the building site next door to Batavia is something we warn everybody about on inquiry. The noise levels are down currently (as of June 2009) as they have finished with excavations and will finish building by the end of 2009. We apologies for any incovenience caused and our guests of...

Fantastic service, wonderful location, but too old fashioned and fussy for our taste. As with all of the places we've ever stayed in South Africa the service was fantastic. Lots of local knowledge and really helpful tips and advice. Great location too, 1 minute walk from most amenities including some wonderful bars, restaurants, and shops. However, if you like clean... more

The Location is great, as long as it´s situated just in downtown (you can walk right to the town centre from it), but it´s on a very quiet street. Our room was very nice, with a big and comfortable bed and a wanderfull bathroom. As my husband and I were there out of season, I think we were almost the... more

My partner treated me to a Birthday trip to South Africa, where we had the pleasure to stay at the Batavia. Upon arrival it took me a short while to get used to the very unique style of the hotel. However, once settled in, I couldn't think of a more peaceful and romantic place to stay. Room No 1 offers... more

We stayed here for one night after leaving Camps Bay and en route to the Garden Route. I had researched for ages on tripadvisor and spent time on their website and was excited about staying here as I had read so many positive reviews. All I can really say is that staying here was a very surreal and uncomfortabe experience.... more

Great location - within walking distance of town centre. Room was comfortable with great linen. We were there out of season and i think we were the only guests in the hotel at the time, but did not feel that we were rattling around. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great. more

We arived to a very romantic room, flower petals around the room, chocolates on the pillow - it was absolutly wonderful - loved the jacuzzi! It was very peaceful -just up our... more
