We were here for one week in oct 2005. We had in all aspects a rural holiday. We had no airco (but no problem in october), swimming pool was dirty (but also no problem in oct) and there was no restaurant-at-home. A solar (a manor house) is not a quinta (a manor house with a lot of land). We arrived from Porto airport (approx. 155 km driving) late in the evening so we had no food ore anything else. The directions to go to the solar ware not that good. The village is everything we expected in this area. Tranquility in every aspect except for the still many mosquito's at night in our apartment. The place was quite dirty but we had the whole day a big log fire burning, burning and burning. In the village (not more than 1 street) we met lovely locals who offered us a lot of new distilled aqua ardente they were distilling on the street this time of year from the pressed grapes. € 2 a hole bottle !
