Tucked away on a narrow street in the old part of town, the Liwan Hotel is a delight for visitors seeking a quiet retreat while taking in Hatay’s sights. Built in the 1920s, it was home to Syrian republic’s first president, and following renovations, it opened as a hotel in November 2008. The unique design of the townhouse, the stone walls, tile floors, and nicely selected furnishings and fixtures make this a charming place to stay. The rooms and bathrooms are on the smaller side, but nicely appointed with firm, comfortable beds and walk-in showers. Coffee is the highlight of the small continental breakfast. The hotel also has a restaurant and a separate bar area. The staff was helpful. more
