My husband and I stayed at Tanguera Hostel for two nights. Oscar was a great host, gave us tips on where to visit, how to get around and places to avoid (for safety). The location is the best part of this place... it is located on a small side street in San Telmo, walking distance to the Microcentro (Plaza de Mayo) downtown district, Calle Florida shopping, Puerto Madero (high-end). DO NOT WALK from the hostel to La Boca - we were advised by Oscar and other locals that there are many muggings occuring in the area around La Boca's famous Caminito, so you shouldn't walk there (day or night). Two different guests at the hostel got mugged a couple days before we arrived after they did not heed Oscar's warning.
