Rupestre Hostel is an old two-storey building with an outdoor terrace. The place preserves original front, ceilings, floors and wood stairs. We have redecorated the place but still respected it. It is a warm and comfortable hostel in the big city with a chilled out atmosphere, and a friendly and helpful staff 24-7. Located in the heart of Nueva Cordoba neighborhood, a great place to stay at.Supermarket next door, plenty of bars and restaurants to choose!! At the hostel we organize "Asados, Pollos al disco, Matambre a la pizza" for everybody!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked the rupestre hostel back in february, 2 weeks prior to arrival we got a text on whatsapp telling us the booking is cancelled as the hostel was "overbooking" that night. Very poor. Avoid. Bad.

DO NOT STAY HERE! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND RECEPTION! So I had arrived at 7:00 AM at the hostel after an overnight bus ride. I was supposed to arrive a day earlier, but I had unexpected problem and came the next day. I had sent multiple emails and messages to tell them when I was coming and asking if I could check in at the new time. No one responded or even acknowledged that they received the emails! When I showed up, not only was Ivan F ( not sure if it’s his real name) incredibly RUDE, CONDESCENDING and, at times, THREATENING, he wouldn’t let me go to my room even though I offered to pay for the night. Worst of all, he said he and the hostel read my requests and CHOSE NOT TO RESPOND. While talking, he kept giving the most ridiculous, stupid responses and i even caught him LIEING straight to my face (and when I called him out on it, he even admitted what he said wasn’t true). Finally, he gave some bullsh**t reason about not wanting to wake people up because they may give bad reviews, even though it was 7 am. So, when I explained that it’s not the middle of the night, and if you share a dorm, people usually understand that others will come and go at different times, he GAVE ME A LECTURE about how it’s not “a regular hostel because it’s a ‘community’ with a kitchen and common space”. I decided to just leave and find another hostel, and when I told him that he tried to scare me by saying that there are only a couple in the city and EXTORT me to pay him more. Of course, this was not true and I easily found a hostel at the time. I have stayed in dozens of hostels across Asia, South America and Africa, and this was the WORST check in experience I have ever had. If you need anything irregular or have any specific request, DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS NOT WORTH IT!

Hostel Rupeste is an excellent hostel! The people that work there is very friendly and they helped us with our trip to Los Gigantes Mountains. And in the top of the hostel is a wall to climb!! It's great!

Not normally picky with hostels but had 2 of the worst nights sleep! This was down to the run down room with missing glass panels to the doors so could hear every car going past outside and the staff that seem to have an exclusive party every night upstairs! Lucky if you get in when you want too because there's hardly anyone guarding reception and you need to be buzzed in. The shower was great though (the one with the bath tub) and the breakfast was very decent, although don't expect it on time... Considering it's price, not bad but wouldn't stay again as it made me stressed out! I could be so nice with just a few renovations and changes!

The place concept is nice. They used an old house and put a hostel in it. There is a boulder space upstairs, a gym and a roof top to hang out and make an asado / bbq. Unfortuneatly the bathrooms are not really clean eventhough they get cleaned. They really need a new concept or renovation. In general the house feels dirty like our double room. There is not air condition and the house is in general almost as hot as outside. The breakfast was a joke. When we asked one of the stuff to show us a restaurant he made a joke about different types of tables and gave us the tip to go to the market in the evening. This could just have been another joke because the place is not really save as we discovered the next day in daylight when we witnessed an atempted robbery. We helped ourselfs with Tripadvisor. In total i would say you get what u pay for and even less. Never again.

It was cheap. There are some english speaking staff. The location is good. There are lockers. The rooms are spacious. There's a nice rooftop, and a rock climbing room. You can hear a dog barking early most mornings, which woke me up. I think it belongs to one of the staff, who brings it into the hostel. The breakfast is a bit basic. (Toast and spread, and eggs you cook yourself)

It could have been a decent stay at a well located hostel with the great addition of a climbing wall for active types (don’t get too excited about the gym, it’s one barbell, some small dumbells and TRX cables) BUT... ...on my last night a local band was allowed to “rehearse” – which apparently meant drunkenly screech out various English language classics with a guitar and someone drumming on a box as accompaniment – from about 12.30am until gone 3am keeping several people in my room, and presumably other rooms as well, awake for the duration. Be warned the hostel is relatively small with only two dorm rooms so sound travels very, very well up and down through what is an old building with high ceilings and wooden floors, even if like me you use earplugs. Acoustic. It would have been preferable to have someone play their own music loudly because at least then you know it will be in tune and you might even like a track or two, this just sounded like a sack full of cats being slowly murdered – perhaps caterwauling is the appropriate word. Now noise in hostels is nothing new but what really annoyed here was that it was effectively hostel sanctioned because the staff member on the overnight, one of the siblings in charge of the place, told me upon the second of my numerous polite (I knew losing my rag was unlikely to be productive) entreaties that no one was doing anything wrong as it was within hostel rules to allow such activities until 4am. This ludicrous idea I can neither confirm nor deny, having never seen nor been presented with a set of rules. I was told later that he was part of the band so it was good to see which side of the coin hostel priorities fell upon when confronted with such a conflict of interest. I’m not sure what would have happened to someone trying to get in late via the locked front door as the same “24 hour” receptionist was later upstairs on the roof with those making the racket. I guess they would have just stood outside for quite some time in the early morning Cordoba side street darkness. Oh, and although Hostelworld says you can pay by credit card I was predictably met with a bemused look and shake of a head upon enquiry, so don't base your choice on that either.

I came for 2 days, stayed 6! I am a woman travelling alone and always felt safe and always had friends - groups of travellers pass through always eager for a chat. They all helped me with my Spanish! Bring your own padlock for your locker (this is standard in most hostels) but once inside the doors don't lock. I didn't meet anyone I felt unsafe with in my time there so I wouldn't worry. Most of the staff don't speak English, but we got the message across with mime and a sense of humour. Ivan's English is good, as is his guitar playing - he even taught me a couple of chords! View it as a quirky budget hostel with a climbing gym and you'll enjoy it. If you're looking for sterile and soulless, head elsewhere.

Came here with my wife. Stayed in a double room which was only just acceptably clean. When we arrived at 7am the whole building was shut and no one was answering the bell so we had to stand outside for an hour on the street. The website advertises check in anytime. This is not true! Toilets are ridiculously small, I could barely sit on the toilet without my knees pressing against the door and there are only 3 showers for the whole hostel. Breakfast is fine but is supposed to start at 8 and on our first day we came down at 8:15 and nothing was ready. Wifi is very very patchy. It can be incredibly noisy at night as there is a big courtyard where staff drink together with their friends, although it wasn't too bad when we were there. Overall some of the staff are nice but most are very rude, dismissive and lazy. I wouldn't stay here again. I'm sure there are better options in the area. Only positive of this place really is the proximity to the centre and the bus station.
