We had some time left at the end of our trip, and fortunately I contacted Georgina and she had a two bed cottage free. We were travelling with two young kids so this was perfect. The deal is all inclusive and is excellent value for money. The cottages are very comfortable. Georgina accommodated all our requests, for picnic lunches, meals... More

Estancia Huechahue is actually 30km east of Junin de Los Andes on Route 234 just before the bridge over the Rio Collon Cura. The accommodation is run by Georgina, a very capable lady with a eye for detail. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay more enjoyable. The accommodation, based in two lodges, is basic but clean and... More

I had a week on the estancia. It was the splash out and enjoy myself part of my Argentina trip and enjoy myself I did. The riding is fantastic, the horses incredibly well trained, the food really great, accommodation simple for the pricebracket but really nice, the staff (especially Diego) also fantastic. I was a novice rider but this wasn't... More

This working estancia is one of the most beautiful places we have visited on our 12 month journey around south america. Run by new manager Georgie Tegart who is a hoot and has life experiences that will shock and wow, the property is a beautiful, lush and complete with animals and gouchos. The food and wine here is just as... More

We have booked a Cross the Andes trip in Dec 2010; got an unforgettable riding experience of a life time. The stay and day trips before the ride already have been fantastic. Accommodations are divided over several cabins on the Estancia in the middle of the beautiful garden. Jane and Diego made sure we got well prepared for the trip.... More

Fleksibility was very much appreciated, after celebrating a birthday in "town" untill 6 in the morning. The horses are fabulous, the trips stunning, the food great. Definately want to go back! Hilde

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Estancia Huechahue is a family owned working cattle ranch located in Northern Patagonia, Argentina. Nestled into rows and rows of Lombardy poplars, the lodge sits on Ruta Nacional 234 just north of Junin de los Andes, Neuquen Province in Northern Patagonia. Only forty five minutes from San Martin de los Andes and two hours from San Carlos de Bariloche, it is close to Argentina’s famous Lake District and its many attractions. Our lodge is open from November 1 to April 30 every year. Huechahue is perfect for guests who want to explore the area by car and who would like the experience of staying on a working cattle and horse ranch instead of a hotel in town. We offer a B&B option of hotel room with breakfast included. Lunch and dinner are optional and paid for separately. We would be happy to help you plan your activities while you are here. Other guests like an all-inclusive package which typically revolves around our impressive horseback riding programs, fly fishing on the Collon Cura and Chimehuin rivers, a farm or ranch stay, or signing up for one of our culinary classes. Additional reviews of Estancia Huechahue can be found under "attractions". The farm itself is virtually self-sufficient. Water is drawn from an aquifer and electricity from a turbine. Much of the food served at Huechahue comes from the land. Beef, lamb and kid make their way to the asado (BBQ) pit. Ham and bacon from our pigs are cured in the smoke-house. Venison and wild boar from the property are served fresh or smoked and preserved in oil for tasty snacks. Eggs come from the chicken run; milk, home made yogurt and cheese from the dairy cow. Berry patches line the paths and the orchard serves up plums, peaches, nectarines, apricots and apples. A massive garden provides fresh vegetables. Guests can be assured of excellent services and a warm welcome. The atmosphere at Huechahue is relaxing and genial. Eight guest cabins are spread out through the orchard, a short stroll from the main lodge. Guests gather in the dining room for meals, or the large "quincho" for asados and grill outs over an open fire. We hope to see you soon! ... more   less
