We visited El Calafate for the last summer. We selected this hotel based on recommendations on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The hotel had very confortable rooms. The water pressure on the shower was incredible - just what you need after a long day in the outdoors. The staff was so friendly, and make us feel like in house.... more

Done in antiques, nice appearance, some of the employees really went out of their way to help us. Water was unpotable (a filled sink had a brown color – which also made for a very unappetizing shower), and beds had little support (uncomfortable), and some employees didn’t seem to be concerned at all with customer service. more

Hosteria Meulen is a lovely hotel with old fashioned hardwood furniture, newly installed bathrooms, a shuttle service (running only 2x per day) into town and multi-tasking employees where 1 or 2 people did everything from check-in, baggage handling, driving the shuttle, serving breakfast, cleaning plates, and making personal wake-up calls. I can't complain about hotel as the accommodations met my... more

I booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Stayed here with spouse for two nights in December 2006. I absolutely LOVED this property. The rooms were very nice, finished to a high standard, our shower was quite large, the hotel is beautifully sited facing Lago Argentino with its opal waters and the occasional iceberg. The... more

Wow, it sounds like some grumpy reviewers have stayed here recently. I found this little hotel to be quite charming, thanks in a large part to the very friendly and helpful staff. Yes, it's a walk to town, but a lovely walk. (And it's closer to 10 minutes than 20 if you take a shortcut recommended by the hotel staff.)... more

It is hard to believe some of the other reviews here relate to the same Hosteria Meulen we recently stayed in. As mentioned by the previous poster, this hotel is in the suburbs, a good 20 minute walk from town. As a result, not only are you further than you need to be from major amenities, but you are also... more

I feel compelled to write a review to correct the balance of the other fantastic reviews on which we based our decision to stay here. Firstly the hotel is a 20mins walk from the main street and is so isolated that there is only a dirt track leading to the hotel...that said a taxi is only about US$2 so get... more

We stayed 3 nights whilst on a tour of Argentina. Superb lake views, excellent cuisine, clean and smart accommodation but most of all very friendly and helpful staff. The hosteria is located 2o minutes walk from El calafate town or 5 mins in car. Perfect peace as the hosteria is far enough away from other buildings with a 5 min stroll... more

Very helpful and friendly staff from the minute we arrived until we departed helped make our stay in Calafate very enjoyable. The hotel situated away from the town in a quiet location overlooking Lago Argentina is ideal. The rooms are very comfortable with extensive views, and the common areas are well appointed. The staff in this hotel are obviously trained... more

We have seen a glorious glacier and found new friends. We were 8 people from Calgary, Canada spending 2 weeks in different parts of Argentina. In this hotel we enjoyed the friendly ambience, the food!, the attention to all of our needs and requests, the smiles, the enthusiasm of young staff. We had a wonderful stay and wish we could... more
