VRBO was recommended to me by a colleague who travels around the US a lot for business. I had to attend a conference in downtown Phoenix, AZ in Sept. There were no more rooms available at local hotels, so decided to try a VRBO rental 2 blocks from the conference. The loft I rented was listed as an "Orpheum Lofts Penthouse". It was described as a "luxury condo, 1 bedroom, 1 bath". It sounded so nice. I agreed to $150.00/night rental for 3 nights and $1000.00 deposit, which was to be credited back to my visa in 14 days. There was also a cleaning fee of $125.00, if not cleaned. I spoke directly with the owner by phone and email. We arrived at the condo and were told to contact security to pick up the keys. There was no security available where we were directed to go. The problem was that it was a secure building with an electronic key to open the front door.
