This concerns the Hawthorn Suites “Waterfront Ivy” in Scottsdale AZ. We had a 2-bedroom suite and left after 1 night. The Marriott Courtyard is a palace by comparison. In summary: Shabby, poorly trained front desk, badly furnished, mediocre breakfast. The Waterfront Ivy is a 60’s converted apartment house. Let me be specific: 1. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suites and it was so large and I couldn't believe that we paid barely over $100 per night in the season we were there (the entertainment card rate). Each group of rooms has its own pool (5 total). The pool was nicely heated after one of the guest asked them to turn it up... more

Hawthorn Suites was a nice place for 2 ladies vacationing together to stay. Close to shopping and downtown areas. Staff was very friendly and helpful..nice breakfast every morning. Hotel consists of several buildings, a few condo-type units per building with a pool in front of each building. Canal runs in back of building. Too hot (100+) to walk when we... more

We have stayed here many times now when we visit Scottsdale. The hotel is clean, quiet, very comfortable, and has an idiosyncratic charm.
