We spent the last night in Iceland there before taking the ferry to Denmark. Very nicely situated in the mountains with two well designed hot pools. The accommodation building is a simple but cosy place and very clean. You can get basic dinner and breakfast there, but you can also bring your own food inside. Camping in front of the building. Sanitary facilities are very clean, but too few. Very friendly staff. Very good hiking nearby. We did the 2.5 hour round-hike which starts and ends at the hut. Also great place to watch Nordic lights (If they happen) as there is no light pollution.

The owners of Laugarfell lodge offer a few no-frills places to park camper vans. The facilities of the lodge (toilets, showers, electricity) can be used, for a fee, along with the usage of the two natural hot pots (38 and 42 °C) – an absolute must, especially when the air is as cold as during our visit (6 °C). The breakfast buffet, also available to camping guests, didn't look very promising. Wifi is free, but works only inside the lodge building.

We were fortunate enough to experience the worst snow storm in June in over 40 years while in Iceland. The snow created a beautiful scene but this Texas born and raised travelers was not about to be the guy stuck out in it. We opted to spend the night at this wonderfull spot. The private room was warm, quiet and clean. The entire place looked brand knew and was well maintained. The owner and host were exceptionally nice and helpful. Unfortunately we couldn't explore the property due to the snow. I have this place earmarked for a return trip. 5 waterfalls a short hike away, a hot pot, great accomadations and great hosts. It's a win in every way.

My nephew and I camped at the hotel, ate at the restaurant, and took in the hot springs. The young Polish women who were are hosts were very friendly and we had a long conversation with them after dinner. When we left in the morning, I accidentally backed over the edge of the road soon after leaving the hotel in a heavy fog. Even with 4WD, we could not budge. Fortunately, we were only ~1 kilometer from the hotel so we walked back and related our problem to Olga. She called the proprietor in Egilsstaðir and I explained the situation. All we needed was a tow for about 5 seconds. He told Olga where a tow rope was stored. She took us out to our vehicle in the hotel 4WD vehicle. She did not want to do the towing, so after I attached the rope to both vehicles and instructed my nephew what to do, I climbed into our vehicle and he gunned the motor on the other; I did the same. We were free in 3 seconds! We thanked Olga and were on our way. I will definitely return there the next time I am in the area.…

The stay is very nice. The hot pools are super with a beautiful view. And the 8 km (3 hrs) hike is unbelievable with many waterfalls and beautiful nature. The meal is ok, but don't expect a 5 star restaurant here what is logical for a place up in the mountains like this. Also staff is very friendly.

We were told about these hot springs by a lady on a tourist office in the south of Iceland and are really glad we made the effort to drive to them. They were right next to a hostel but for 1500 Icelandic Kronors (about £9.50) you can use the changing facilities, showers and the two hot springs. One spring is smaller and very hot - we only stayed in a couple of minutes as it is also quite slippery. The other is a good size that would fit quite a lot of people and is a perfect temperature to sit in for ages. We were there about an hour and enjoyed chatting to many other people about their trips and getting some ideas for ours. [Thank you to the young Dutch (I think) couple in the camper trailer who encouraged us to do route F35 later in our trip and visit Kerlingarfjöll and Hvervellir on the way. That was a wonderful route and will be reviewed separately.] The hot spring, or hot pots as Icelanders call them, were beautifully located in open countryside with views to the surrounding mountains. Beats the commercial spas and pools any day.…

The road to the hotel took us a lot of time, but the service waited for us after all :) a good place to relax away from everything. Warm and comfortable rooms - we could use more sockets for modern tourists :) but the views compensate it. A large jackuzi allows you to relax in warm water

Laugarfell lies beautifully in the mountains. We were hiking at Snæfell and wanted to warm up in the hotpots. Laugarfell was so great that we spontaneously booked a night. Right decision. 😄 people are friendly and helpful. The Breakfast is very nice. It has waffles. If your in Austurland (Egilsstadir) take a trip to Laugarfell. When we visit Iceland again this is one of the special spots.

Enjoyed a bath in the geothermial hot spring in "Nowhere land". After a few days of travelling it was so relaxing to go here, relax and chat with other travellers and enjoy the surroundings. Two pools, one smaller very hot but still comfortable. Take care because the stones are quite slippery. There is a small Café inside where you can buy soup, cakes and bread.

Beautifully set in the Eastern Highlands, Laugarfell is a splendid mountain hut with two wonderful natural hot spring pools from which you can see Mt Snaefell on clear days. Wonderful Staff who can recommend all kinds of hikes and sights in the surrounding area. With no other inhabited farm around you can enjoy top notch hikes which are not overrun by other tourists, as for instance the waterfall circle trail which goes alongside a canyon and you get to see numerous waterfalls :D
