We had been booked into the Hotel Herad but for some reason the booking had been cancelled and we were placed in the Hotel Edda. This is one of the chain of budget hotels which are schools during term-time. The rooms are consequently a bit basic with no information packs, lamps or other accessories, but the beds were comfortable. Our son’s accommodation was up a spiral staircase through our room, which was an interesting novelty!

The evening meal was unfortunately not good – ordinary soup and very dry salt cod and couscous like sawdust. Shame, because the service was friendly and efficient both in the restaurant and on the front desk. more
