Locatd on a quiet country road in County Cork, Glenlohane is a Georgian country house built in 1741 by the owner's family. We stayed here for the last three nights of our ten-day trip to Ireland, and while we thoroughly enjoyed each place we stayed, Glenlohane was the MOST wonderful. Desmond and Melanie Sharp-Bolster are consummate hosts, and we felt as though we were guests of the house. When I asked if I could visit the stable yard, Desmond smiled, waved his arm and said "Of course! You may go wherever you like!" and made me feel he meant it. Desmond is a great teller of tales, to suit any interest, from horses to 16th centruy history. Both the house and grounds are very beautiful. Everywhere the eye rests in the house, there will be something lovely and interesting to gaze upon and admire. Our bedroom looked out on the green green lawn dotted with sheep, and the bed itself was soooo comfortable, with the very finest linens. And the tub! Very deep and delightful... more
