We had our Xmas party at the Glen Royal last Saturday night (12th Dec 09). I arrived shortly after 4pm to check in. Receptionist was efficient but certainly not warm. The room was pretty shabby - wallpaper coming off the walls, one of the bedside lamps didn't work, lights couldn't be controlled from the bedside, curtains didn't close properly and... more

Stayed at the Glenroyal for a week on business. We were checked in early (before noon) on a Sunday morning very efficiently and glad to be quickly in our rooms for a shower and some quick rest after having arrived from overseas. The lobby and common areas are very nice. The rooms are spacious, but seemed somewhat worn and in... more

On first impression the hotel is well located; just minutes from the train station, bus routes and the University. There is also plenty of car parking space and a very small assortment of shops in a nearby shopping mall i.e. pharmacy, supermarket. My main gripe with this hotel was the food; it really is diabolical. How they managed to make... more

Firstly I would like to point out that the hotel is ideally located for people commuting via train and is within easy walking distance of the town centre. Check in - lobby is unbelievably quiet, background music would be a positve addition. Receptionist was curt and unfriendly, delay in locating reg cards, storing by room number would be a suggestion.... more

We were checked in by a receptionist who didn't show much interest in us as paying customers. Room was spacious, however there were some maintenance issues, toilet did not flush, heating did not work. We had our evening meal in the bar which was included in our weekend package. When we got to the bar we weren't acknowledged by any... more

21 Jan 2009 | Trip type: Family

We stayed in this hotel after christmas and as there were 4 of us we booked a family room. On arrival we met the rudest receptionist well more disinterested in us as customers more than rude, either way she checked us in with no eye contact or smile. We were given a family room on the first floor Room 102.... more

Looking for a relaxing week end I came across The Glenroyal hotel in Maynooth about 30 minutes away from Dublin. The hotel provided a special week end which included dinner on one night with a free bottle of house wine. On our first night we had a steak in the bar which out classed any thing I ever had in another... more

I stayed here recently for a work trip and was concerned after reading the reviews below. However, my stay was fine from beginning to end. My room was a great size, clean with a very comfortable bed. I was in the new wing so was far away from the function areas and hence didn't hear any noise. Breakfast arrived bang... more
