Upon arriving in Dublin on Sept. 12th, 2009, we proceeded to drive to Aughrim for dinner and then check into the Clone House, where we had a guaranteed reservation. After driving up to the house, we noticed that it appeared deserted, except for a friendly cat. We went back to town, where we asked about the house. Nobody really knew... more

I stayed in Clone house with my partner. Upon our drive up to the house we were very impressed and expecting to be enjoying a relaxing weekend. We arrived a bit later than expected after coming straight from work and trying to get through the Friday traffic. We were of course tired and hungry but our hostess informed us to... more

I agree with Tarifa I found the whole experience very disappointing. My husband & I stayed for one night in November. The bedroom was very small and frankly dirty. The pillowslips had dribble marks on them, something I can asure you we are not accostomed to. The room although we had been told didn't have ensuite facilities and we were... more

Clone House is definitely a bit iffy!! Stayed for one night in November and had very mixed feelings about it. The hosts, Carla and her husband, are very friendly Americans and the food was really excellent but the bedroom, while reasonably charming, was not especially clean and definitely raggy in places. Perhaps people stay purely to have a nice meal,... more

The thing about getting away to stay in a 'peaceful Irish Country house'is that you wish to unwind, relax, feel looked after and have a little bit of luxury..... but unfortunately that was not the case with our stay. It got off to a bad start, we had travelled a long way up the country to get here for our... more

Having studied "The Hidden Ireland" brochure, we selected Clone House. We booked a four day package but an event at home forced us to cut short our stay. . The bedroom was dingy, dark and very poorly furnished. The breakfasts were merely all right while the dinner was dire. There were four friendly cats but I was shocked to see... more

Carla and her family are lovely and warm, beautiful gardens, peaceful surroundings BUT, the place was not clean, the food was NOT good (dinner was very mediocre, and breakfast, aside from lovely baked goods, was average at best). If this place were a lot less money it might be worth it, otherwise, we can't recommend. If cleanliness and decor are... more

My husband and I had the pleasure of spending a night in Clone House recently. Carla Watson made us feel very welcome she is a marvellous hostess and her cooking is superb. Perfect place for a romantic getaway . The bedrooms are lovely , some rooms have an open fire. The house has great character and is very cosy. I... more
