We first stayed at the Cubata in 2003, and loved Nazare so much that we returned in 2005 with friends in tow. Nazare is a Portugal visit suggested by Rick Steves. The hotel is located right across the street from the beach and the Atlantic.
The ambience is funky, but the place was quiet and fun for us. Nazare is a good place to recharge your batteries while doing heavy touring. If you want lots of action, this probably isn't the place for you during the off season.
The staff will attempt to get you to book the rooms in front with balconies, but these are more expensive than rear located rooms, and there is a "communal" balcony anyway where we spent a couple of nights out there eating roasted chicken and drinking wine while watching the sunset.
The cost for the room was ridiculously low in 2003, but had spiralled somewhat by 2005, although still very reasonable offr-season. Included breakfast was basic rolls, juice and coffee.
