Where to begin? Being sold a double room with bathroom only to find the toilet was actually a bidet? The live, bare, electrical wires from a broken light sticking out next to the sink? The surly complaints of the person sleeping at the desk when we tried to leave at 6.45am? The unwelcome sexual innuendo from the same person at the desk? The continual noise throughout the night from the major road facing our room which made it impossible to open our window? Or the fact we were charged a shocking 60 Euros for a bare room without a toilet?

I thoroughly dislike having to be so negative since even the best hotels can have a bad day, but I'm sorry to say the Hostal Marrakach was awful. All I can say in its defence is that the location is convenient for both the port and the train station. However, this noisy, unfriendly place is, frankly, a complete rip-off, and I cannot recommend it even as a last resort. Avoid!
