We visited the in the days immediately after the floods of 19 Nov. 09 and from the minute we spoke to the Receptionists we were treated wonderfully. I managed to make only my second trip to the lakes this year; and my second stay at the Scafell Hotel. And for a second time I was given a newly refurbished room with a stunning view of THE VALLEY; this however was only surpassed by the food and in particular the breakfast. more

Great location, a number of rooms in the old building have been brought up to date, to a very high standard. Friendly and helpful staff, but unpredictable and variable food, served on plates that are far too hot, the chef must understand that food served on crockery this hot will continue to cook.
