We stayed overnight as we had a special meal out in Padstow. It was a great choice and we were made to feel very welcome and at home. The room (Green Room) was spacious, very comfortable and well-equipped, and the en-suite was equally good, with some nice green toiletries. Everything was spotless, which is the most important thing! The choice... more

This places just redefines what a B&B should be. It's better than most hotels I've been in costing many times more! The welcome from Jane and Geoff was warm and friendly, and our room (the Green room) was just perfect - cosy, charmingly decorated and with a really nice ensuite bathroom. The upstairs lounge where breakfast is served is comfortable... more

Everything about Althea Library was just wonderful. Will definitely return one day and would recommend to all. The owners even put birthday balloons in our room when they discovered it was my birthday. So different to our next stop - The Bay Hotel, Port Isaac - which was awful. more

Stayed for only 3 nights in May 09, the owners were very welcoming and the Althea Library is in a beautiful situation and has been very tastefully decorated. Great location, only a short walk to Padstow harbour. We stayed in the Puffin suite which was comfortable, clean and spacious. The breakfast was amazing and a real treat to have it... more

After a 6 hour drive from york the althea library was a welcome oasis of calm from the padstow crowds, located as it is on a one way street it is easy to find and doesn't involve having to drive through the pedestrian masses that usually bring the streets to halt. The fact it has its own parking is also... more

I can only recommend this place, the service is friendly and personalised, the room and surrounding, immaculate, and it is situated near the town center so you don't need to use your car. I had the best stay ever in a B&B. Can't wait to go back Pierre more

This really is a fabulous B&B. Very, very clean and comfortable. Superb home cooked breakfast served in the comfort of the guests lounge. The hosts are so warm, welcoming and friendly: it really is home from home! The Puffin Suite is a new addition to the B&B this year and it is out of this world. It has a separate... more

My husband and I have just returned following a wonderful 3 nights staying in The Nook at Althea Library, Padstow. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from the owners and were shown to our accommodation, a recently built annex to the original listed building. The Nook is light and airy, spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped. It is truly... more

We stayed for one night whilst on a trip around Cornwall. The property dates back and has been updated sympathetically to make it into a cosy bed and breakfast. It is around 5 minute walk to the town centre which is also at the harbour and has many restaurants. So location is excellent, saying that Padstow is tiny so any... more

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at this B & B and cannot fault it. We stayed in the Green Room, which was roomy and very comfortable. The thoughtfulness of the owners in adding their own little touches made all the difference. The little outside terrace was a pleasant place to sit and relax and watch the... more
