We approached Washwalk Mill via a long, private driveway flanked by shrubs and trees on one side and a meadow reaching down to the mill stream on the other. The stream was shallow, beautifully clear, babbling along over shiny stones and there was an abundance of small birds flitting among the trees which lined the bank. On the far side... More

What a superb place!! We arrived very late on a Friday evening to be met by Gillie who made us feel at home immediately with offers of tea and toast!! Our room was excellent and because the place is at the end of a country lane it is so peaceful and with no light polution starring up at the stars... More

Perfect peace and tranquility. A wonderful hostess, nothing was too much trouble. Coffee and home made fruit cake as soon as we returned from a day out. The accommodation was 5 * and sparkling clean. Wonderful bed linen. Breakfast was superb and comprehensive - gratefruit, cereal, fresh fruit, melon, full english and plenty of toast, plus home made jam. More

Location is stunning in a quiet village with great food at the pubs and easy access to dartmouth etc. Yummy fruit cake and tea on arrival, a roaring fire on a cold evening after a long walk and only a couple of rooms which means not many guests! Gillie is the perfect host who makes you feel so welcome and... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night and wished it could have been longer. Gillie is a fantastic host, incredibly thoughtful, caring and extremely flexible. The beautiful setting is amazing, so quiet and peaceful with easy access to lots of walks or you could easily spend a day at the Mill relaxing by the river. The food was... More

My boyfriend and I decided to visit this area as it was our 10 year anniversary and we met in Slapton. We had a lovely time at Washwalk Mill. Gillie was really friendly and couldn't have been more hospitable. Beautiful location, lovely comfortable and homely room - it made our anniversary even better. We even had the cosy sitting room... We had such a lovely, relaxing weekend away with Gillie and Jimmy making our stay really special. Delicious breakfasts set us up for exploring this lovely part of Devon and then evenings at the local pub, or curled up in front of the magnificent fire in our private lounge. Bliss! More

My date of stay is wrong because I don't have a choice of multiple dates! We have been visiting Washwalk Mill for several years now and regard Gillie and Jim as friends. They are the perfect hosts. The tucked away location in a world all of its own is perfect for unwinding yet it is only minutes from some wonderful... More

This wonderful house and garden is far too good for the masses. It is a secret place that we would love to keep all to ourselves. The main feature is Gillie who is an angel in disguise and our real reason for staying there. However, we like to do our bit for humanity so our secret pleasure is now revealed... More

Wife and I have stayed in hotels and B & B's abroad and in UK over past 36 years and this has to be the best experience! Reading so many positive reviews it is very hard to be original - it's already been said and yes all the pludits are true. The only negative experience of our stay with Gillie... More
