Every year we go off for 'a boys weekend' staying at B and B's mainly in the Southwest our aim to find good but reasonably priced accommodation with if possible, local amenities within walking distance. The main purpose of the weekend is to go walking, socialise and eat and drink good fare. This year we choose Dartmoor and came across Barnabas House.... more

A wonderfully friendly, warm and very comfortable B&B on the edge of Dartmoor. Fully equipped and "larger than average-sized" rooms and en-suites. My room (4) had a welcome kettle, tv, and sofa in it, for slumping into after a long day's hiking on the Moors. A real home-from-home experience. more

Barnabas House is a great place to stay. We had a huge family room which was very comfortable, our own bathroom, tea making facilities, t.v with wifi access, etc. Even a mini fridge in the room. Breakfasts were superb, a wide choice available for everyone's needs. Attention to detail was brilliant which ensured your stay was as comfortable as possible,... more

I have stayed at Barnabas House a few times now while visiting family in the area - variously on my own, with family, and with my partner, both before and since the current owners Ian and Carolyn took over. It has recently been renovated by them and you can see the difference, with the outdated decor being replaced by light... more

Barnabas House, and the village of Yelverton, are ideally located for anyone exploring Devon, or, as we were, visiting Tavistock. We have stayed in several Tavistock hotels and B&Bs over the years, when visiting the town, but Barnabas House beats them all hands down! The room we stayed in was very comfortable with lots of lextra touches (such as internet... more

Stayed here whilst on route to Cornwall for a night. Stayed in Room 5 which was great as we were able to put the kids in the adjoining room that was included in the price. Room was large and very comfortable. Hosts Ian and Carolyn were very helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was very nice and helped start the day off.... more

My Mum and I stayed here in a very large comfortable room (5) which had a single room within it - ideal for our privacy without having to pay for two rooms - and a private bathroom on the landing. Breakfasts were great, and I wish we'd had time to sample the optional evening meals. Our hosts were very helpful... more

We had an exquisite and very large room with a large private bathroom. Both rooms were very clean and equipped with anything we needed. An especially nice touch was a ring binder with a lot of information regarding the area. This was very helpful for exploring Dartmoor. Breakfast and service were brilliant. Extremely nice and helpful people. We would definitely... more

I have just stayed here for a 'photography' weekend with my teenaged son, and would recommend this B&B to anyone without hesitation. The room was lovely, clean and homely and the food was delicious. Carolyn and Ian went out of their way to make sure our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing. Dartmoor National Park was stunning...a photographers/walkers paradise! and... more
