We have been coming to Postbridge every year for last 5 years, and my partner at least 20 years. In that time we have stayed pretty much everywhere there is to stay in this region of Dartmoor, the pub down the road and a 5 star hotel nearby to name but a few. But this year we decided to try... more

We have now been visiting Beechwood B+B for the last three years since the owners Andrew and Lorraine opened the new doors in 2006-and we can’t keep away! We have traveled much around the world and Beechwood Bed and Breakfast far surpasses any expectations of a normal bed and breakfast. Beechwood is a wonderful cosy “cottage” in the very heart... more

Andrew & Lorraine who run the guest house are very warm and caring people who really take care of you, no matter how long or short your visit. This lovely cottage made a great base to explore Dartmoore from. The breakfasts really set you up for a good days walking, made with freshly laid eggs from their hens. And after... more

Beechwood on Dartmoor is one of those rare, exquisite English treasures that makes life a joyous experience worth sharing with family, friends and even strangers met that day. Located in the heart of Dartmoor, it is the most perfectly relaxing, gentle and restorative place I can imagine. Walking through the front door produces a comforting feeling of familiarity, almost as... more

We travelled to Dartmoor with our 16 year old daughter and her friend. Beechwood was indeed an ideal base to explore this beautiful area from. The owners (and their cats) were really friendly, the rooms were clean and the food was to die for. If the weather had been better, we would have arranged more than one evening meal here... more

We had stumbled in that B&B "by accident" for the first time in the late summer 2007 and stayed for two nights. After these two nights we knew already that we would come back again some day which we did in May this year. And this time we stayed for seven nights and really enjoyed all the things we could... more

There is something not quite right about this place. On the positive side, the room was spotless and reasonably comfortable although very, very small - there was hardly room to move about in a 'double' room. It was also undistinguished from the point of view of decor, bland but not unpleasant. The problem was with the proprietors, who seem rushed... more

I arrived at Beechwood with no pre-conceived ideas, except knowing that the hosts had a delightful sense of humour based on the emails we had exchanged. On arrival through the amazing moors (complete with lambs), I was met by Andrew who made me feel like I was catching up with friends. Beer in hand and with the first bit of... more

My husband and I visited Dartmoor at the end of Feb/beg of March, wanting to stay in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park with good access to the walking routes, but with warm and comfortable accommodation to go to at the end of the day. In the cold of the February weather, we found Beechwood B&B to be a... more

What a perfectly lovely little bed and breakfast right in the middle of Dartmoor - leave your car in the carpark and go walking over the moors. It is actually far more than a simple B&B though as they also provide afternoon tea, and if you give them enough notice they can also do an evening meal for you -... more
