I have written a review re dinner and breakfast under the restaurant review option. Noone would go to Harwich for the weekend to see the sites so if you do go , like us it will probably be to stay at the Pier. Having stayed at Milsoms and Kesgrave Hall it was somewhere that had been on a list to... more

This hotel was recommended by a family member. It was conveniently located for our trip so we checked in for one night. We stayed in Room One, which looks like it had been recently refurbished - the room was large and well-appointed with decor being quite trendy. The view looked out over the harbour. The bed was very comfortable, the... more

We visited The Pier in November 08, having read the reviews was really looking forward to getting away and staying in a lovely hotel, with great food. My partner and I could only get away for one night so was looking for a lovely hotel with great food. We read the reviews about there being nothing to do in Harwich,... more

The enjoyment of this hotel seems to hinge on which room you get, and the night you stay. Unfortunately, we ended up at the side of the hotel, directly overlooking the gate to a very active dockyard, which was in full swing by 5am on a Monday morning. (someone came and opened the gate around 3am, and there was plenty... more

We had booked a spacious room with harbour views and it was all we had hoped for. Comfortable bed and furniture, normal bathroom but all well kept. Dinner in the bar downstairs was excellent and staff nice throughout. Good English breakfast cooked to order with additonal buffet. of bread, jam etc. Can be hIghly recommended. more

We stayed at the Pier at Harwich the night prior to our cruise on Jewel of the Seas. Our stay was very enjoyable - made so by a very attentive staff, great restaurant choices within the hotel, and a well appointed room. The town itself is small but quaint. Not a lot of "action" but a nice walk after a... more

This hotel is great. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely and the food is really good with portions on the enormous side. We will definately return and we live in Manchester (not nearby!) more

With two superb restaurants; fresh produce at it's doorstep; very helpful and friendly staff; dramatic seaside surroundings, a very classy and unique hotel in a charming and pretty little town.. it's a wonderful getaway to The Pier at Harwich. I thoroughly recommend it! more

Stayed here for two night on 17th October. On a works course so everything was paid for The service from the front desk, the restaurant and the night porter was fantastic Harwich as a town is not worth a visit, it has one decent restaurant (apart from this hotel) that is the chinese buffet down the road. Pubs are very... more

We stayed on a Friday night to get away for our wedding anniversary. As others have mentioned, the town is completely dead - we were ambitious and took a "walking tour" to see the historical sights. We were done in about 15 minutes. That said, The Pier makes up for the lack of atmosphere in the town by offering a... more
