The Tower Hotel is a fabulous building, with the splendour of a previous age. Once a grand house, it later served as a school - my wife went there - it is now a decent hotel with a three star rating. However, the food really does not live up to the surroundings at all. Whether eating in the palatial restaurant... More

We had lunch in the restaurant during the week to celebrate a birthday. We had booked but as it turned out not many people in so no real need. Wouldn't chance that at the weekend though or Sunday lunch. Rigby's Bar across the entrance hall was the most popular for bar meals, etc.,among the locals I guess, but if you... More

We recently sailed on "Jewel of the Seas" out of Harwich. We flew to London from Washington, DC and rather than stay in London we went directly to Harwich and spent the night. We stayed at the Tower Hotel and it was terrific! Karen is a wonderful Innkeeper! The room was clean and the hotel was very quiet. We had... More

After deciding to settle on this area for the start of a two-day romantic trip up the East Anglia coast and being disappointed by some of the crazy prices of some b&b's, as well as the inevitable Bank Holiday rush that meant most rooms everywhere last-minute were scooped up, my girlfriend and I decided to check in to The Tower.... We stayed in the Nelaon room for a night. The room was warm and clean, although my slight niggle was you could hear quite a lot of noise from the bar below. There was loads of free parking and we took a walk along the sea front which was nice. Had a drink on the patio from the bar, which... More

When faced with a early morning ferry from Harwich to either Holland or Scandinvia, with either Stena Line or DFDS, you either have the option of driving from anywhere else in the UK through the night, or starting up far too early in the morning. Or how about the better option? Get a good nights sleep at Harwich in a... More

A very individuell hotel with spacy rooms, impressing staircase, clean and comfortable; nice, friendly, helpful but inexperienced staff; perfectly located to ferry / cruise-terminals. Restaurant nice, food British, above average. Considering usual hotel-prices in UK, Tower Hotel has a really excellent price / value relation. More

We checked into this hotel for one night for a wedding. Even though we had one of the cheaper rooms our room was full of character. The public rooms are thoughtfully decorated. It was very clean and beautiful. Reception were friendly and efficient. The Tower hotel overlooks the bay behind, though a rather unfortunate industrial plan in the bay mars... More
