the food was good and the service in the restaurant bit. however, the room (deluxe) was shabby - poorly lit internal bathroom, lino floor. the curtains were hanging off the rail and couldn't be fixed. furniture was a mish mash. breakfast was only available at 8.30am.....too late for us. it felt like no-one cared and it wasn't being managed properly more

The Wheatsheaf has been on my list for quite some time as one of those recommended places to eat. A place of good standing in the culinary world by people in the know whom like to keep these little gems their own secret dining place for as long as possible. My own experience there ,on such a lovely winters day... more

We stayed here for 3 nights B&B and had a wonderful restful time. The superior double room was just that, very clean. spacious and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in! Breakfast was ample and the staff extreemly friendly. The best part was being able to spend the evening by the lovely log fire in the bar... more

The rooms and bathrooms are dated, but the price of the rooms and the quality of the restaurant food makes up for it. The hotel is charming and the location is a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside and villages. more

We stayed here for a night. The food was fabulous (if a bit pricey). The staff were young and on occassion it showed. One member of staff was particularly helpful and welcoming but the general impression was that Mum and Dad had gone away for the weekend leaving their children and their friends in charge; the floppy haired teenager behind... more

This place is wonderful I cannot recommend it enough. Warm welcome, simple check in, friendly and helpful staff, food excellent. We found out it has been under new ownership since October last year and the new owners should get a gold star. We stayed the weekend of the Air Festival at Fairford and as we left early for the show... more

FANSTATIC FOOD! Had the best steak ever. Rooms were fine (cream and inoffensive), real log fires which smoked a bit but loved that - gave the place atmosphere. Young, friendly staff but go if its just for the food. Apparently the chef has worked at some top restaurants and it shows - couldn't fault it really. Pub dog - really... more

We stayed at the Wheatsheaf two weeks ago and loved it. It was absolutely packed when we were there so we had to wait for our drinks a bit but I loved the ambience, it was really relaxed, lots of young people there having fun - its obviously a very popular place (luckily we'd booked a table but otherwise I'm... more

Weekend away with two sets of friends as a reunion. Hotel looked lovely from the outside and had a good size garden and the rooms although small were clean and well presented. However had to ask for soap and tea and coffee was not provided in two of the rooms, when we did ask it was provided, but the rooms... more
