Stayed for 2 nights to look around the area - so great location to see some of the Highlands. Rooms are clean but dated - but the bathrooms appear to be getting upgraded. Nice friendly owner and staff, nice fresh breakfast. Did not have the formal evening meals as prefer bar food when I'm travelling on my own - but... more

The best thing about this hotel is its location which is just gorgeous. The food is delicious and the owners really make you feel at home and can't do enough for you. The decor does need updating but our bathroom had been recently done and in the grand scheme of things the decor did not detract from a very memorable... more

If you are looking for five-star luxury don’t stay at the Shieldaig Lodge. In fact if you’re looking for luxury of any sort, you won’t be happy here – you’ll need to be down the road at The Torridon. However if you want comfortable accommodation in a stunning location, looked after by friendly hosts with good food, then the Shieldaig... more

This is a delightful lodge right on the water. Interior has not been totally destroyed by 60s - 80s renovation. In fact there has been very little renovation as others have commented. But it is clean and the host and staff are supremely friendly, attentive and welcoming. Did not dine so cannot comment on that aspect but this is a... more

This hotel is quite quirky! An old shooting lodge with comfortable public rooms and quite dated decor in the bedrooms (though bathrooms were newly refurbished), it is spotlessly clean. Run by a most hospitable couple (and their friendly dog) who seem to do everything without any staff, the whole ambience is laid back and informal. The food is excellent using... more

Last stop on a whirlwind tour of Scotland. Only there one night and wished we had stayed a week. It is a historic hunting & fishing lodge that is clean, homey & reasonably priced. The reason our experience was so amazing is because of the owner, Gino Bernardi, his family and his staff - they are all incredible (including Bos... more

We stayed at this Lodge for one night while touring the Highlands. The position of the house is stunning and on entering the hallway we were grinning as we hoped we had found a Highland lodge that we were hoping to stay in. The entrance hall was lovely with a beautiful huge lantern but the entrance looks desperate to have... more

Shieldaig Highland Lodge is situated in the perfect position. A small lane passes by at the back of the hotel with hardly any traffic passing by and the hotel looks out over its lawns directly onto the lake , Loch Gairloch. The hotel itself is an imposing building reminding one of days when it was used as a hunting lodge.... more
