Refering to the previous review, yes I agree, maybe this B&B has a little more hostel style, but it does not spoil our fun, we loved it! We loved the surroundings, just magnificent! There is some nice walking along the cliffs. We saw a lot of seabirds, bring your binoculairs! We did not see any midgies, it was windy and... more

23 Jul 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

i stayed at the lighthouse for 2 nights with 5 of my friends for a bit of a girlie catch up -although the hostel seemed to be mostly geared towards walkers etc, we were made more than welcome, and the owners made us feel right at home, sure there are quirky aspects like the peaty water but being able to watch... more

Our negative experience at Rua Reidh began when we arrived in the early evening and found no one to greet us. There was a note on one of the doors that we finally found which indicated that a room upstairs was reserved for us. The interior hallways were dark and cluttered and the room itself was dingy, and not too... more

We stayed May 25, 2008 and found this B&B to be outstanding in every way and we wished we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone. Just driving to the lighthouse was an adventure alone on the single-track road and dodging sheep. A fun place to stay and explore. more

Our initial impression was negative, our twin room was set up as a double and cooking facilities were limited, but our stay improved immensely from then onwards. One of the owners, Fran, drove over immediately with linen and helped us set up our beds, and was very friendly and helpful. This hostel has a beautiful location, surrounded by slabs of... more

Absolutely wonderful, probably one of my favourite places from my 5 week tour of Ireland and the UK. The road there is a little treacherous (don't even think of bringing a caravan!), but the scenery is magnificent. Upon arrival we were greeted by a large very furry white cat who gave us lots of cuddles (me being a cat fantatic... more

My family (2 adults, 2 children aged 4 and 8) stayed at the lighthouse for one glorious summer night. Before heading out to the lighthouse, we stopped at a beach in Gairloch, where the children had a swim in the sea. The road to the lighthouse from Gairloch is narrow and single track, but there are plenty of passing places,... more

I'd have to disagree with the previous reviewer. Our family spent two nights at Rua Reidh and had a wonderful stay. We stayed in the en suite family room, which our kids loved due to the bunk beds. Nice rooms, small - as you might expect for a hostel, but neat and clean. The place was full of guests on... more

We booked a night here after reading about it on the websites and thinking it looked wonderful. We booked 6 months before going, and confirmed again down the track, even giving our credit card details as security for them. We arrived that night with our two year old to be told by a young staff member that we didn't have... more
