Clearly a venue that generates lots of opinions! The room we had on the first floor was immaculately clean, well furnished and airy. The view out onto the church was delectable and the location in the quietest part of the village was what was required for a relaxing weekend. The hosts were extremely affable and interested in making sure that... more

I would agree with the last person to comment on this Bed and Breakfast. The location, cleanliness and food are all fantastic. The whole stay was let down by the owner who was extremely rude from the moment we walked through the door. He told us that check in time was 4 oclock although I had spoken to his wife... more

Fantastic location and property but spoilt by the strange behaviour of the owner and it was freezing until the heating kicked in. Admittedly my husband and I stayed there last year and so possibly this chap has changed his approach to his guests but just be warned what starts as an affable kind of chat can turn intimidating. This may... more

I will start by stating that I agree with comments regarding the eccentricity of the proprietors to a point...however they can afford to be! This place is simply gorgeous, from the charming roses above the door to our room (The Governor's House) to the views of the church and the vases of sweet peas on what felt like every surface.... more

The village of Lacock is amazing... Time has stopped here. We had a very pleasant stay with David and Simone McDowell. David told us about the history of the village, explained some of the locations used for movies, and showed us around in the pottery. Breakfast was perfect, including a good selection of homemade preserves and bread and fresh picked... more

I am so surprised to read the comments of earlier reviewers. I thought that this place was delightful. And I am horribly fussy! My room was lovely, everything worked, it was beautiful, tasteful, clean and the breakfast was great. I slept so well. The owners are eccentric, yes, but totally helpful and kind, advising me on a morning run and... more

Great B&B, full of antiques. Home made produce. However owner downright rude. We were looking for TV remote in Guest Lounge (no TVs in rooms) and were subjected to a half hour tirade, saying this was his private house and how dare we go through his things. His delightful eccentricity turned into Basil Fawlty-like venom. We left - much to... more

I’m still not sure what happened here, but our experience was not very nice. The location, room, breakfast and price were all fine, but the owner and breakfast staff were downright unpleasant. I think we got off on the wrong foot right away (when the breakfast staff called us “stupid” for not knowing his English slang for hot chocolate or... more

Great B&B in the heart of the beautiful village of Lacock. Elegant but simply furnished room with a smart en suite. Very atmospheric old house with a roaring fire. Fantastic breakfast with homemade jams and local produce. Friendly and hospitable hosts. Lacock is a lovely place to stay - we had a great meal in The George Inn and enjoyed... more
