Myself and a small group of friends went to this hotel for one night only..thank goodness we did not book for any longer. The hotel is very shabby and badly in need of updating. The saving grace for our room was the huge double bed and fairly modern bathroom. We were hoping the hotel would redeem itself with its food but our evening meal was disappointing to say the least...very small portions of badly cooked food for a very large price. The next day we thought perhaps the breakfast might be better but , again, it consisted of overcooked, dried out food. In fact, one of our party had to take 3 days off work with an upset stomach. The hotel has the only public bar in the village of Port William and , naturally, every local was there as it was Saturday night. The bar stayed open till 1 am and to say it was rowdy could be called an understatement. In conclusion, I would say do not go there as there seem to be much nicer B and Bs in the area which I am sure would provide better food and more... more

Although we did not stay at the Monrieth Arms, this was our "local" while we were in Port Wiliam.

We had 2 meals in this hotel, and both were excellent, in fact the first meal we had they actually opened the restaurant for us, and the service was extremely good. The 2nd meal we had in the bar, and my Husband loved their liver and bacon and said he would recommend this. The people were really lovely and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Even when we "popped" in for morning coffee, afternoon tea, or an evening drink.

I must tell you that their prawn salad/prawn cocktail was to die for, it was truly delicious and would recommend you to have this. I did twice!

It was extremely good value for money and all I can add is a thank you to them, for helping to make out stay in Port William one to remember.
