We were looking for a B & B in the Newton Stewart area of Dumfries and Galloway and the local Scottish Tourist Office found us Muirfad Farmhouse B & B at Palnure, just 3 miles east of Newton Stewart. We booked for two nights, but in the meantime had a problem at home which meant we could only stay one night. Sue was very understanding when we arrived and said that would not be a problem. She produced a tray of tea, homemade scones, jam and cream which was very welcome after a very stressful afternoon - their normal service, not just because we had problems. Our room and en-suite shower room were immaculate, and the breakfast extremely good. All in all a B & B of a very high standard with extremely pleasant and helpful owners. The area is uncrowded and off the normal tourist route, and has a lot of gardens, castles and places of interest to visit. more
