We went to The Ceiledh Place in Ullapool having read favourable reviews on Trip Advisor and were pleased that they were open in the Winter months. After explaining to the waitress that one of us was dairy and gluten free, she fully understood what was needed. She took the menu off for the chef to advise without even having to... More

This is a great place to stay in Ullapool, with a combined bookshop, restaurant and hotel. The rooms are not enormous, but very nicely decorated and comfortable. For me, the best aspect of the hotel was the fabulous bar upstairs. Set in a beautiful room, the honesty bar is very comfortable and convenient. The only drawback in the ceilidh place... More

Did a nice car run over to Ullapool today, so happy to see that The Ceilidh Place was open for business. Superb meal (the smoked haddock chowder is superb), can heartedly recommend this great place for a meal. Just what was needed on a cold but bright January day. More

What a great find. The mix of hotel, bookshop, art, restaurant and bar (with or without live music) was wonderful. Superb breakfast and good value evening meals. Even on a very busy (tall ships festival) weekend nothing was too much trouble. Lack of televisions and other mod cons all added to the pleasure. Our four boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves in... Recently stayed here for a wedding held in the hotel. The place is simply fantastic. You have to be very clear what to expect though. This is a place to be with friends, go walking, paint, read books etc. In general to relax. There are no TVs. No computers. No spa. No pool. The bar and restaurant are simple. Rooms... More

I decided to book a special night away for my wife and me, so I asked for the best room they had; I was offered a premium room, with a view of Loch Broom, and was quoted £154 for 2, for one night B&B!! That's nippy, so must be really good, I thought......... but it wasn't. Our room was fairly... More

Lovely place to eat dinner after wandering through the bookshop. Poetry, music, great fiction. We each bought books then settled down to the recommended dram of Aberlour. The seafood was terrific, creamy risotto, and great service. In the next room, music students played traditional songs for their families and friends. We loved it there. More

We went to the Ceilidh Place first for an afternoon coffee and later for an evening meal. The afternoon visit was to a place full of life and culture, people relaxing and enjoying a wet Sunday afternoon with coffee and wine. The evening visit was to a place with untrained staff and average food. We waited 10 minutes to get... More

Ceilidh place is def different. A book shop and bar restaurant are bar of the hotel which also offers free wifi. The coverage is a bit hit and miss right enough. There is a large guest lounge with an honesty bar which is a nice touch. Rooms have a selection of books chosen by locals which is a good idea... More

The rooms are comfortable and clean, ours (2) was very small. Would have liked a kettle in the room as well as a tv or at least a digital radio, but the guest lounge was a great place to sit in the evening. Loved the honesty bar, a great idea. We wanted drinks later than 11pm one night but the... More
