I'm very surprised at some of the negative reviews the FBI has on Tripadvisor. I've been to the FBI five or six times over the past few years, and my wife and I stayed in September. It is a charming inn, great location, decent food, reasonable prices. If staying in Ullapool it is my first choice. bear in mind it... more

What a truly memorable experience it was staying at the Ferryboat Inn. We'd seen some of the earlier reviews and were a bit concerned, but we needn't have worried. Our room overlooked Loch Broom, it was comfortable (though strangely lacking in any hanging space for clothes!) Breakfast arrangements are very good - true continental breakfast in-house (fruit, yoghurt, meats, cheese,... more

this provided very basic accomodation. The rooms were clean but we couldn't sleep due to the toilet doors in the pub downstairs banging. the single room we booked for my elderly mother was on the third floor, no lift. There seemed to be open access from a back street into the hotel. The continental breakfast provided was very good, although... more

This place is a real disappointment. Great localtion but very basic rooms. The cooking is terrible. The menu promises much but the food is badly cooked. The staff seem to view tourists as an irritation and no effort is made to make you feel particularly welcome. The breakfast is truly awful - the sausages were practically raw but the plates... more

Thank you for your comment. As with all guests, we encourage feedback at the time of your stay and it was a shame that you could not comment to our staff direct and therefore give us a chance to discuss your concerns. The Ferry Boat Inn is an 18th Century building and since we took over this premises 18 months...

I think quite a lot has been done to improve the Ferry Boat since the reviews written in 2007. We booked two rooms for two nights here earlier this month and really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the views, in fact the whole experience was very good. Our room, overlooking the loch was very small and had no hanging space at... more

Wow! What a fabulous inn this is! We had a on-night stay at the Ferry Boat Inn and absolutely loved it. The rooms overlooked Loch Broom, which is beautiful, and absolutely LOVED the bar/restaurtant. Real ales, great view, friendly locals, great food. Ullapool is stunning, so all-in-all this was a great (short) stay! more

Having booked a long weekend in the Summer Isles we stayed here on the way up. What a mistake! Ullapool is a lovely place and we were welcomed by a lovely couple in a tea shop on the front. After then heading to the pub for a few drinks before checking in, we found it was definintely a locals bar,... more

The good news is that the FBI is back on form. After a very bleak period in its history, Joanna and her team are doing a great job in restoring this perfectly situated inn. I have just returned from a two day stay with my mum and her sister (both in their 80s). The welcome is warm and all the... more

We stayed here for 2 nights commencing the 8th of august 2008.We were met by very helpful staff who gave us the key to our room and showed us up.The view from room 2 is spectacular, although perhaps a radio or tv may have been nice. The room was clean and tidy and it was nice to sit by the window having... more

Travelled up from London to Inverness for a few days for a break, W drove to Ullapool and checked in to the Ferry Boat inn, I think we were the first of the season, as it was all very quiet. I think we were the only guests that night but nothing was too much for the staff, The bar was... more
