Our hosts Sallie and Howard are sadly selling the business this year although we believe it will continue as a B and B. We had a fabulous time - they were as helpful as possible, even printing us itineraries for walks. The breakfast was great - the rooms, although not large, are comfortable with amazing views and lots of little... More

I was very disappointed as our room had not met the vacuum cleaner in a very long time. Wife spent a weekend abstaining from wearing lenses so not to have to face the filth. We were hoping to have a good time, but we really could not enjoy our stay. Not recommended at all. More

My wife and I (and our 2 small dogs) spent 5 nights with Howard and Sallie at Carminish House B&B while we toured Harris and Lewis in June. Our hosts could not have been any more welcoming and helpful; from suggestions of good places to dine (including the Anchorage in nearby Leverburgh which was good value and good quality), things... Having spent the day travelling from Barra through Eriskay and the Uists this guest house was a welcome sight. The hosts were very friendly and helpful; nothing was a problem. The breakfasts were excellent. We ate at The Anchorage close to the ferry terminal in Leverburgh - excellent food - advisable to book in advance as it is a very... More

Nice quiet bed and breakfast. Wonderful views and scenery. The best part of the stay there however were the hosts Howard and Sallie. They knew everything about the area and what there was to see and do and were very helpful in planning our day for us. Not much nightlife but very relaxing and beautiful area to visit. More

Howard and Sallie are very friendly, welcoming hosts, going out of their way to make sure their guests enjoy their stay and get the most out of the surrounding area. Howard after hearing our route produced a detailed itinerary (with photos and directions) for us after breakfast to make sure we didn't miss anything! We ate at the Anchorage restaurant... More

This was one of the cheapest, but also the best, places we stayed during our trip. The owners were lovely, extremely helpful and gave us great advice on what to see in the local area. Breakfasts were amazing, I was especially impressed that they did proper vegetarian breakfasts too. Our room was lovely and clean and overlooked the water. More

I had the best time possible in my 4 nights @ Carminish (3 and then another 1 later). The facilities are great, the views are great, the island is beautiful, with amazing beaches in the south and great mountains everywhere (and the Seal colony in the east and Deer herds in the west don't hurt either...). Howard and Sallie are... More

A great place to stay in a wonderful location just outside Leverburgh. Very comfy rooms, excellent friendly service and it felt just like staying in a house of your own instead of a B&B. Breakfast and dinner just fantastic and also some very helpful advice on where to go and what to do (if you didn't already know...!). Cannot recommend... More

Carminish House was one of the best places for hospitality during our Scotland Holidays this year. It is situatated absolutely close to the sea with beautiful views to the other islands (Eriskay, Barra). The room (with en-suite bathroom) was small but large enough to have a wonderful staying. The furniture lovely with beautiful details. We read in the guest book... More
