This summer, good eating on Mull was promoted by "Taste of Mull" week. There are some super restaurants - great ambience; excellent food. And the produce is local and very fresh. The food for Pennyghael arrives in a truck from the mainland. The owner says he can't source it locally. Makes you wonder why doesn't it!!!!! more

This is a place to avoid. Location is good, and rooms adequate, despite the damp patches, but it stops there. Dinner was 70's menu reheat, dull and bland, and the service so slow that there was time to go outside and take photographs between courses. The wine was breathtakingly bad - quite the worst we have drunk in living memory,... more

stuning location. friendly welcome. the real home cooking was great. the only downside was breakfast, which seemed to have run out by the time we got down, even though we were pretty early. but wouldn't hesitate to go back again. loved it. more

we stayed at the pennyghael hotel the first year that Kieron and Jo bought it and had such a fantastic time that it has now become the place that we spend our family holiday every year. They are an amazing pair of people that would go out of their way to help you and work really hard at making sure... more

Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We stayed self catering, and the cottage was excellent, everything we could need and spotless, the hosts were so pleasant and helpful. An added bonus was we could eat at the hotel if we didnt feel like cooking. Fabulous location and a perfect holiday. more

We had a really fantastic stay, seeing all the wildlife, enjoying some great weather and some nice peace and quite at an acceptable pace. Kieron and Jo did everything they could to make us welcome and to make the stay as enjoyable as possible.... Also great food. Many thanks for a great time, the Russells more

Took the advice of another hotelier and booked into the Pennyghael Hotel. Passed the Hotel on the way to Iona and took the opportunity to go in and order dinner for that evening. Was met by Jo who made us feel like long lost friends and showed us round the Hotel and our room. Returned later that evening for dinner... more

We, a family of 5 (daughters aged 18, 11 and 10 years) from Newcastle upon Tyne (originally from Germany), spent 5 days of the May half-term break at the Pennyghael hotel on Mull. We have not been to any of the Scotish isles before, but definitely want to come back soon. The hotel is located next to Loch Scridain (20... more

16 Jun 2009 | Trip type: Couples

We stayed for a fortnight in one of the self-catering cottages at the Pennyghael Hotel on the Isle of Mull, in its staggeringly beautiful location on the shore of Loch Scridain, with Ben More in the background. The moment we arrived, we knew we had come to the right place - not only because of the wonderful setting with all... more

Very friendly hosts who were warm in the greeting and enthusiastic regarding food etc. The value of the rooms and food provided were not as good as others on the island and it was evident that the sheets were not fully clean. This could be due to the b&b having their own water supply which was slightly brown coloured. Mull... more
