What an idiosyncratic little gem The Smithy is. We only had a brief stop, but sitting by the loch eating gorgeous (Gluten free) cake with really good tea is hatd to beat! Really interesting hosts who are as individual as the house itself. Looking forward to a return visit.

At a historical site Carol and Peter manage to offer perfect accomodation with lovely breakfast in the morning, tea and scones during the day, as well as to feed the animals around the house, such as geese, dogs, cats. I stayed there for one night and on my return for another one.

Superb stop on a cycle touring adventure across Scotland. The scones are homemade by the man of the house and we a god send to power us over to the Isle of Iona. Great views from the garden in front of the cafe!

We popped in on the off chance for a coffee and a slice of cake. Great welcome when we first arrived, home made cake was lovely. The place has a really relaxed homely feel about it, we will definitely visit again one day and stay in one of the lovely rooms!

We booked in advance and cycled over from Strontian. Carol and Peter were lovely and welcoming. Peter makes fantastic scones which we sampled with a lovely cup of tea sat overlooking the water watching the sun go down. Nothing stiff and starched like some places we've been, it was like having someone look after you in your own home.

We stayed in the twin room for one night. Smithy House is clean and homely with some nice touches such as dressing gowns in the rooms. The view was great! We feel that it may be best to stay here on shorter breaks rather than spending an entire holiday here. Please note, if you have larger luggage you may struggle for space. Breakfast was a down to earth fry up and our two course dinner was filling. Few points to note if you suffer from allergies at all - this is an animal loving household and Carol is also very keen on plug in air fresheners (we turned ours off as it was quite overwhelming). Also remember that the bathroom facilities are shared. All in all, staying at Smithy House is a bit like staying at your friend's when you're little and being looked after by their Mum as Carol likes to look after her guests!…

Called in after bird watching Golden eagles and sea eagles. A lovely little cottage with stunning views. When we first walked in we thought we had walked in to their own living quarters! Anyway after a morning watching eagles we were starving so ordered two lovely toasties a coffee and tea. Delicious. Peter the host was very warm and friendly and even sat with us to chat. If we are ever in Mull again we will be back.

We spent the night here on our way to Iona. We were made to feel at home by Carol who was the perfect hostess. It was very clean, the food was perfect and the view over the Loch was breath taking. Carol provided all bath salts imaginable, along with sprays and creams.... we had the most relaxing time. The dressing gowns were a nice touch. There were plenty of dvds and books to keep us out of trouble. A most enjoyable stay. Thank you. Lyn and Marcus
