We've just had another week around the Brecon beacons and had two excellent meals at the Bridge End. Superb location at the river's edge with a lovely riverside garden adds to the ambience. The staff are always obliging and the locals are always very friendly. My uncle caught a salmon from the bridge years ago, but couldn't land it without... More

This old pub is sat on the edge of the village of Crickhowell. It is one of those pubs that has a few locals sitting at the bar talking quietly about not very much but enjoying life nonetheless. The beer was tasty, but the wine was fairly average. Although it has the potential to be a quaint pub, the annoyance... More

Friendly locals in the bar. We've been lucky enough to have a drink here the year before, and the bar probably had the same locals on both occasions. Good food in the restaurant. I had perfectly-cooked locally-farmed venison, my wife had locally-caught fish. Lighting was dimmed to a good level, and decor was very good. Service was attentive - just... More

I ate a very thin lasagne which was a main course. My husband paid £6 for a starter - pate, which came with one sliced of toast. Bit stingy we thought. OK, so they brought us an extra slice of toast when asked, but why should we have to ask? And hey, it was December, it was raining - why... More

Traditional pub food, lots of choice on the menu and a specials board. The meals were reasonably priced. I visited with my dad who has mobility problems, and the staff were very accommodating, and gave us a table on the lower level. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was excellent. Lovely location overlooking the river makes it very popular... More

We found the owners (landlady in particular) very friendly, but kept a polite distance. Cottage has three rooms, we stayed in the double which is small but perfectly manageble for two of us (but if you have luggage/family, it is not big enough). The only drawback at night is that the noise carries and you may get woken by others... More

What a dissapointment took some Brasilian visitors for sun lunch . Had too squeeze past the locals who were at the bar, was served for our meal by a very rude landlady whose patience was much to be desired when we did manage to get to the bar the landlord could barley tear himself away from the locals to serve... On my travels through the area, popped in with friends and had a what I called a hairy biker meal - to be honest probably better refined cuisine than that, but very good.
