I loved this place. The chalet was great with a view to the lagoon – complete with resident hippos splashing around. The best part was the family feel of the place, you had dinner with your guide, and the food was fantastic, home made meals for B/fast, Lunch, Tea and Dinner. The safari experience was amazing; the guides took us... more

Away from all the rest of the world - we're already trying to figure out how to return. Staff was wonderful - charming, helpful and accommodating. One afternoon we wanted a shorter-than-planned game drive, and that's what we got - with a relaxing tour of the ponds and birds nearby. Other game drives involved an amazing show of skill by... more

Mapula Lodge in the Okavango Delta is overall very good. My friend and I were oicked up at the airstrip and after 25 min drive received a warm welcome. The deck off the rooms overlooks water, and hippos can sometimes be seen. It was very relaxing mid day to sit outside with only shorts on. (Siesta or free time is... more

When you stay at Mapula, there is no doubt that you have left the rest of the world behind. That being said, they have successfully brought civilization to the bush. Each cabin has an outdoor shower with hot water and enough light to read by. Service is very good and they accommodated our family's dietary likes very well. Our family... more

Mapula Lodge was a dream come true. Wildlife viewing started on the journey from the air strip. What an adventure riding in rovers that can actually go through 6 ft of water! The lodge itself is built on stilts with wooden walkways everywhere. Each guest room is a separate cabin built in the trees with and screen netting facing the... more

From the minute we arrived at the airstrip, we felt like we were in a scene from Out of Africa. On the drive to the lodge, our guide, Dicks, was already pointing out bird species we had never seen and already we knew this was going to be a special part of our honeymoon. On arrival, we were met by... more

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful visit to Mapula Lodge. Mapula was the last of several safari lodges we visited in Botswana, and even though it was the least expensive, it was also our favorite. We think this place is a hidden gem! The lodge sits on a large hippo pool. Guests stay in chalets that are a good... more

This is a wonderful lodge with great game viewing. The rooms are really nice. The food is average but you can't beat the location. Elephants and hippos outside your room every night! The staff are really smart and friendly. more

Mapula is a place for serious game viewers. Everything revolves around game viewing and they are very flexible with schedules, provided that everyone in the group agrees to the changes. Lunch time and dinner time are never excuses for cutting short a good sighting here. Some examples: The people in our group explained that the morning of our arrival they... more

Mapula Lodge is beautifully located on a lagoon in a remote region of the delta. The cabins are lovely, spotlessly clean and tastefully appointed. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Doctor, the manager, ensures the camp runs smoothly and was always on hand to check everyone was okay; he also has a fantastic sense of humour and is... more
