I have stayed at the Imperial Hotel more than 20 times. It is a modest hotel with reasonable and acceptable rooms and one major plus. It has excellent management and it tries very hard. The staff are helpful and management and the front desk have always taken complaints and criticisms seriously. This alone sets this hotel from most other hotels... more

Stayed at the Imperial Hotel in mid February. It is a fairly decent hotel, nothing outstanding. We had a room on the 4th floor with a comfortable king size bed. There are no bathroom supplies except for a small tablets of soap, no body lotion, insect repellent, facial tissue etc. However bath was clean and towels supplied adequate. The Breakfast... more

Check in was quick, efficent and courteous. We had deluxe rooms on the 4th floor, overlooking the Kenyatta Grounds, and to the left, Lake Victoria. The rooms are well furnished - queen size bed with mosquito net, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, mini fridge (empty), flat screen TV with Satellite TV, desk with chair, ample storage space, and electronic safe.... more

Spent a memorable 5 days at the hotel. Not european/tourist 5 star but excellent in every way and not tourist prices. Good to get back to at the end of the day to shower, etc. Excellent laundry facilities. Meals and drinks excellent and cheap by english prices, 3 course evening buffet great value at 850 shillings (£6). 3rd floor rooms facing Jomo... more

I have stayed in this hotel on five occasions in the last few years, and thoroughly recommend it as a clean, safe, pleasant and central place to stay. There is nowhere else similar in Kisumu. The staff are friendly and helpful, restaurant great, and the rooms bright, clean and reasonably equipped. The room had had a fresh coat of paint... more

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and thought the place was wonderful for central Africa, in a city which isn't on any tourist map and well away from the coast. We had a delux room ($130.00 for two, per night for B&B), it was clean, tidy and very much like any other hotel room we have stayed... more

I stayed at the Imperial on Business last summer. It was okay, but overpriced for what you get. This year I stayed at a Guesthouse which was much better value for price. Problem was that rooms are very standard and a bit drab. First night wanted to take a bath, but water drawn was light brown. So I took shower... more

This is the only place to stay in Kisumu. I stayed here 4 weeks. As a single woman, I can't imagine staying anywhere better. I felt safe and very at home. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast never bored me. The restaurant/bar on the main level always had decent people and interesting conversation. They have... more

The Imperial Hotel is simply the best hotel there is in Kisumu. if you want somewhere secure, central, and well-equipped then this is the best place to be. The cuisine is very good, and the main restaurant is one of the best places around to eat in. Rooms are comfortable, with good mosquito nets - though I have stayed here... more

Imperial Hotel booked/reserved my room for a friday night and a month long stay. When I went to pick my husband up in Nairobi I found that they had given the room away. This was the second time my room had been assigned to someone else. We had to search for a room in the city with luggage on our... more
