First, the Bivouak is amazing. Great service, ambience, location etc. Food kinda sucked but it didnt take away from the experience of staying the the middle of the Sahara. It was great and highly recommended. We spend only 1 night there and after our early morning camel ride went to the Hotel to shower. My god, is that place a... more

We had booked one night in the Auberge and one night in the Bivouak and had two controversial experiences. The night in the Dunes was 5 star. Luxury tents, open fire with Champane and delicious food. Our little group was the only guests and the silence at night was almost unreal. The Desert Inn the next day was a bit... more

Who would expect to find a flush toilet, gourmet meal, luxurious tent accommodations, and live entertainment in the middle of the Sahara Desert? We went the entire route, even riding a camel to the bivouac site, and all of this was arranged by the owners of the Kasbah Derkaoua. It was the adventure of a lifetime, and very well done.... more

Firstly, it is between Rissani and Merzouga, so not really in/near Erfoud. I would endorse the comments made on 21.10.07. Having to send a deposit by money transfer was costly. more

I have read some negative reviews of this hotel and I wonder if it can be the same place we have just left. (carpets by the pool - what is that?) The room was dim, cool and spotless. Service could not be fauted, both owners and staff being available and friendly. The dinners are really good and, oh joy, you... more

We were a bit disappointed with this place. We had heard wonderful reviews, many too many? The place could be wonderful but is not as well kept as it could be (although it is the desert...). Our room was old and run-down, not charming at all. As another reviewer mentioned, it seems it needs a bit of love. It's a... more

My sister stayed here ten years ago and it was supposed to be the highlight of the trip. Unfortunately, it was really lacking in atmosphere. There used to be carpets by the pool etc, but not now. The children's play area was broken and overgrown. The staff were lovely but the owner wasn't great, a bit arrogant. No aircon in... more

It was hard to believe that a place like this could exist in what felt like the middle of nowhere. The setting, surrounded by the vast expanse of desert ,with no other properties within site, the terrific food, the relaxing pool and excursions were all highlights of our trip to Morroco. As hokey as it sounds, do ride the camels... more

Perfection, pure pure perfection! We stayed here March 2007 & it cost 550 d (£33) per person including breakfast & a 3 to 5 course dinner. Considering we only picked this place because we had gone for budget accommodation for a few days and just wanted something nice so we picked the first we saw in "The Rough Guide" -... more

What a magical place! If you've imagined spending a night in a desert oasis on the edge of the earth, this is the place to make it a reality. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the food was delicious. But the highlight of our visit was the view of the night sky complete with shooting stars. The pool and... more
